TPMS

Featured Replies

last Friday night my tpms warning light went on saying rear left

tyre had lost pressure',on inspection the next day it looked fine

but took it to kwik-fit anyway. They found an big nail in it and replaced

the tyre,i also reset the monitor.Exactly one week later travelling the exact same route

at the same time the monitor went off saying all four tyres had lost pressure, but they look allright after three days

is there a known problem with them,or do I need to go to kwik-fit again.

Take some time to give each tyre a visual check, just in case.

It may be nothing, my TPS triggered after a long run but no issues were found.

just been out in it ,all seems fine.

Did you reset the TPMS after the new tyre and checking the others?

Regardless of TPMS save money, avoid KwikFit!

Remember the system used by Skoda is the cheaper "rolling resistance" type. Having one new tyre fitted on an axle can throw an error, as can some road surfaces.

I had the 1 tyre fault on a long run. Looked fine, reset. Then a few time later over several months. Did put a small amount of air in occasionally. Then it became more regular. Looked closely, found a nail. It was so small I had to show the tyre place where it was even after dunking it in water.

If it flags up all 4 it is a system error.

My first O3 used to do it about once a week, and then refuse to save the pressures without turning the ignition off and turning it back on again.

The dealer never did manage to fix it despite numerous software updates.

I use kwik fit coz its FREE

How come?

If it flags up all 4 it is a system error.

I got all 4 flagged when I got my dealer to swap wheels front to back and they didn't reset the TPMS, once I reset it myself it was fine.

To be expected - maybe I should change my post to

If it flags all 4 up out of the blue for no apparent reason

How come?

Mobility car!

So when your tyres 'look' fine, did you actually check the pressures?   If the pressures are correct then reset the TPMS - simple!

Iwas asking if there were any known faults, and obviously I reset after checking- simple!

Mobility car!

Id rather have my health and pay for it myself, I hope you never have to suffer the health issues I have over the last 30 yrs,if it wasnt for mobility I would be housebound, and have to get tht NHS to get me in and out of hospital 3x aweek for life saving treatment at far more expense. It isnt totaly free as it costs me £300/mth approx in benefits

Not free, you pay with your Motability allowance. Remember, Motability isn't free.

Just what I said.

Just what I said.

Yes, posted at the same time I think. I get annoyed with people who think it's a "free" car, as if we should be greatful for being disabled.

Sorry OT,

But for those that gets the terms mixed up,

There is no such thing as 'Motability Allowance' paid to anyone by the DWP in the UK.

Just Disability Living Allowance & the Higher Rate Mobility Component or now the  Personal Independence Payment.

(Also Disabled Ex Service Allowance recipients as well.)

Then the not for profit 'Charity'  which is Motability, & Motability Finance buying vehicles and leasing them to those that qualify and sign over their Benefit, which is the persons 'Cash / Money',  not some freebie.

A very wealthy Charity Motability paying some Employees very handsomely and these days Disabled people can often Lease Cars at less

than Motability Lease Vehicles cost.

Its Funds were very useful to the 5 Major Banks when the Crash happened and the UK Government

allowed them to hold the Charities rather large reserves.

And dealers used to love Motability - they got paid more for a motability 'sale' than the average profit they made on the private sale of a new car, they got paid for servicing for 3 years, and at the end of the lease they got a low mileage 3 year old car at a good price to put on the forecourt.

I know some of this has changed since I was last involved in Motability, but it used to be a good earner for a dealership, especially once metallic paint became standard for Motability cars.

Yep I understand all this and sorry for your situation. The point I was trying to make I guess is one of attitude, in as much as, just because you don't pay for a service at the point of sale, don't make out its free.

It's a strange way of thinking to me!

As you've said your paying £300 a month but potentially, given contracts with certain maintenance people through mobility etc, you may only have to pay £280 if you didnt keep visiting Kwikfit and they keep putting in the bill to mobility!
