Anti roll Bar bolt problems

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have upgraded my anti roll bar bushes to poly ones on my octy mk 1 vrs and cannot seem to get the passenger side bolt back in to secure it to the car. The drivers side went back in fine as i have more room to get my hands in. The passenger side bolt i can get finger tight but as soon as a ratchet gets near it pops out. There seems to be a large gap between the bush and the bracket but the bracket isnt bent. Any advice or tricks to get the bolt in !

Thanks all

Would be better sticking a picture up, as a picture tells a story of it's own, just be careful though with trying to screw the bolt back in you haven't damaged any of the threads.

Yeah no worries thanks will try a picture not with the car for a while !. The threads are fine as screws in when i tried it without the bush or bracket its not a long bolt and has to go in almost 3/4 of the way before it takes !! Nightmare :)

Longer bolt perhaps?

I used a longer bolt with a nut screwed on.

Would it be easier to remove the subframe and bolt it on that way?

remove the subframe for arb bushes? WTF?The only time you need to remove the subframe is when you change the subframe

The best option is to use longer bolts from rear caliper, and don;t use much longer bolts with nut.

Thanks all i tried a slightly longer bolt. It tightened in but when i went to tighten fully it became loose. It was only a few mm longer so i think it was too long. I shall try and find a bolt that is slightly longer and see what happens

I was just suggesting an option that could have solved his issue, there's no need for the attitude!

Use the longer bolt to pull the bracket down round the bush, then fit original bolt.

Used longer bolts using oem replacement bushes on mine. New rubber/poly is a lot stiffer and needs mega pressure to push in on with the standard bolts..

I used some needle nose grips to hold the clamp down when I did mine.

Pinching the clamp is the better method. If you use a longer bolt make sure it not too long as there isn't an infinite depth behind it.
