As per the title, a new Skoda Smartgate app is available from the Google Play store - it now has support for WiFi Direct connections, so your Android Smartphone can still get mobile data.

 

Limited support at the moment (Performance, G-Meter, MFA Pro, Motorsound), so if you are using Skoda Drive you still have to connect via WiFi.

 

Still no Android Lollipop support for the Skoda Service app, so the only way of upgrading your Smartgate firmware is by using an Apple device or an older Android device.

Yes, I retrofitted it to mine as it was built 1 week before Smartgate was available as a factory option.

 

No coding is required, just 5 wires to connect to the CAN Gateway and a couple of pieces of trim to remove.

Ordered it from Czech Republic, cost about £95 inc postage, half the price of a Uk dealer!

Probably, you would have to ask them. It was an option so unless you specced it you won't have it.

Smartlink is completely independent to Smartgate - I haven't seen or heard anything definitive that is will be available for MIB1 units, and if it is it would be Columbus only as the screen res is too low on the Amundsen and Bolero MIB1 units. At the end of the day it is only software, so may be possible as an upgrade.

Hi, May I know if need to remove the battery when retro fitting smartgate?

 

I read the instructions couple of times, just to be sure, I need to disconnect the 6 pins from gateway and connect to the piece they provide and connect the pins from the cable loom they provide to the gateway ?  Making a loop so the gateway still function and the Wi-Fi module gets the information it needs , is that right?
