Skoda mysteries

Featured Replies

Can't find the answers in over a year of hunting.Anyone know the answers to any of these?

The sports pedals the same as the audi.Do skoda manufacture there own or does VW/Audi have a huge bin to distribute through the company?

Same for the other bits.My A4 octavia vRS seems to be a car cobbled together from the above pedals, some trim from 1998 Audi A4's,white side indicator lights first found on a variant of one of theMk3 golf GTI's that marked it out as sporty.Evergreen 1.8T (which factory makes it?do VW then ship it to the factories).Interior door handles from an A4

Is that what my octy is?Bit of a frankenstein of good parts from past masters?Do they just have the old 'tooling'as it were?

Which pillock stuck 'sound system' on my speakers  ?Now removed(says skoda auto underneath).

Where do you find skoda sales figures? How many of each model sold here and in Europe generally? Comparison of increases in sales?

Any answers to any would be great .Thanks

I hope you haven't been using dogs whilst hunting as it's been banned you know.

Ref the parts:-

The car is assembled in Czech, but most of the parts are VAG bits. The pedals, for instance can be found on the TT & other VAG models.

Octavia is based on the Golf platform.

I'll field this bit. You come to a company like mine, who have the sales figures for 57 countries worldwide. We can tell anyone who asks, the answer to your's and many other similar questions.

You're probably tempted to ask for the figures, at which point I'll have to be coy, as unfortnuately the answers don't come cheap, and it's not allowed for me to just offer them up on a forum.

OOOHHH Industrial espionage :D:)

Parts are shared throughout the VAG range and sometimes even outside it it's not just Skoda's that get parts off other cars. For instance the Porsche Cayenne uses the R32 engine and the Ford Galaxy is basically a VW Sharan.

So Plan B is to ask you where you get the figures from? Are they in the public domain (ie Skoda press releases, DVLA figures, Skoda Annual Reports etc) or do you have to be equally coy about your sources?

We buy detailed Registration/Sales reports from the authorities/manufacturers associations/data agencies for each country. The value of that information is variable but it isn't cheap. In the UK, its the SMMT who supply us.

Anyhow we buy all this information, additionally research it, and load it into our own custom software package. So when a customer comes along, be they a car manufacturer, aftermarket supplier, lease company, they buy the information from ourselves along with a very user friendly software package which they use to run queries on.

The added value of our research and the fact that all the data is in one format is what adds value to the basic information. So when we come to sell, its worth a lot more. The information can be used in so many ways, the value to our customers is huge. After all before you can do anything you need to know what sells. We'll tell you that, for how much, what equipment the vehicle had fitted as standard, and soon what options were added also. All this for every important market worldwide.

The pedals are covers, does any elses actually stay on? I left my accelerator one off after it yet again came adrift and jamed the throttle fully open on the M56.

In the case of the Fabia Skoda had the tooling first, then the rest of the group followed us.

Your A4 Octavia is a A4 Golf with a few spec changes to appeal to a slightly different market. Just a way of VAG covering a wider spectrum of potential buyers. And remember the Octavia hit the roads in 1998/9 same year as the MK4 Golf.
