Whoa Black Yeti Bam-a-lam

I had a 2007 Civic Type R that I loved but I also have a supercharged MX5 race car I really love. It was time to buy something practical that can tow the MX5 to events. Purchased a 2009 2.0 CR TDI 140 Elegance from Crawley Down Skoda near Gatwick. 49,000 on the clock with a few options including Park Assist and Pano Roof for £12,200.

Pics from the day I test drove it:

Arranged as part of the deal for the Camelot and Water pump to be done as they were over due and to collect the car a week later. I went to collect it as arranged and it had a dead battery, as no workshop people were in on a Saturday and they didn't want to risk it being something more serious I was lent this for 5 days:

140 CR TDI DSG SE (I think). I really liked the Auto box but was glad when my car arrived on Thursday.

So Thursday arrived and so did my Yeti, delivered by the dealer 40 miles to my Office. I took it out at Lunchtime for a McDs drive through and get some snaps:

I love stickers and as a member of Pistonheads and here they had been ordered before I collected the car. I also thought the obligatory Yeti sticker was required.

Today Yeti was booked into Phil Taylor TowBars in Horndean Hampshire for a Witter detachable and electrics to be fitted and code. All done in an astonishing 50 mins.

I then took it to the lock up to meet it's stable mate which it will be towing to Abingdon CAR-nival Sprint on Friday afternoon:

Future plans in no particular order are:

  • Dr Leather wipes to restore the wheel and seats to their factory satin finish and feel. (ordered)
  • Shark Performance Remap
  • Matt silver mirror caps
  • Matt silver bumper protector (Bought, waiting to be delivered)
  • MDI Ipod interface
  • Maybe a matt black wrap on the chrome grill sections
  • Chrome exhaust trims
The expensive ones will likely be over winter when all my spare funds are't diverted to racing and running the MX5.

400 miles completed this weekend already as I took it up to Rockingham Motro Speedway as a spannerman for a mate running in the Max5 Racing Championship. He got 1st in class in both races.

Looks very nice.

I'm toying with re-spraying / wrapping the chrome on the bonnet. That's how they should have been from the factory IMO.

Let us know how the Dr. Leather wipes get on with the steering wheel especially. The 3M wipes I have clean things but leave them VERY slippery and a bit glossy. Not good.

Light work for a Yeti. :)

You got the right car, they'll do that day in day out without breaking a sweat.

Done a fair bit of towing in mine near the 2,000kg towing limit and it still does it easily.

Found a useful resource of local greenness while scoffing my dinner and decided as one was within 2 miles of where I live it would be rude not to have a nosey and enjoy a beautiful sunset.

On our return to sunny Hampshire I went out and tried another local greenlane.
