what size wheel spacers for standard alloys?

Featured Replies

Hello ive just got a superb 2003 1.9tdi 130 bhp ,, with the standard 17inch alloys

What size wheel spacers would be ok to fit ?

Im thinking of 20mm hubcentric all round seen aluminium kits on ebay with the longer bolts included.

Would these be ok ?

I might be being dumb, but what is the point of fitting spacers to the standard wheels?

These 17 inch are ok alloys , I think itll look good with the wheels sticking out a bit and not lowered ,

Like a big beach buggy lol if it looks horrible then get wheels .

Will 20mm spacers be ok then given these are small wheels for the car and its not lowered?

I personally don't think it'll look better, but you pays your money....

With it not bein lowered , and with standard alloys then im guessin I should be ok if each spacer is 20mm ,

By ok I mean the wheels will not hit the arch or inner arches when on full lock or any other parts ?

I think you will be unlikely to find anyone on here who has done this.

You might have more luck at UKPassats, where there are many more people doing pointless stuff to their cars... :-p

Using spacers will increase loads on the wheel bearings and also interfere with some of the carefully calculated suspension settings/angles

I'm not going to say "don't do it".

I am going to say that if you do it you will need a full geometry reset by someone who knows what they're doing because the offset change will change the required castor and toe angles all round.
