battery replacement in key

Featured Replies

Hi. Newbie question folks. Does anyone know how to open this sort of key (please see attached pics) in order to replace the battery? There seems to be some sort of slot/cutout just below the Skoda badge in the centre but I don't want to risk damaging the remote part of the key by just trying to force it.

As an additional question, does anyone know how I can get a spare key (I only got 1 when buying the car second hand) and how much approximately a spare key would cost?

Thanks in advance for any assistance and advice.

It looks like the key fob which is the same throughout the VAG range. It should pull apart from top to bottom of you apply a firm pull. Plenty of guides on Youtube :)

Put a small screwdriver blade in the slot and twist to prise key open. You will mark the plastic slightly, it's inevitable.

The top part of the key has two tags to prise open to open the battery compartment.

Thanks a lot for the info folks, it was appreciated. The pics of the inside of the key were a help and I also found the video on U tube as suggested. Thanks again.
