I bought a new Fabia VRS on 16th of October - told by dealer car would be available thursday or friday (20th/21st). Phoned on Thursday to check, but told that car was not yet in Showroom - told would be ready by Tuesday and so arranged to collect on Wednesay (yesterday). So i get my new car insured from yesterday, cancel insurance on my current car, arrange with me old man to go and pick it up. I then phone the dealer yesterday morning to confirm I can come and collect it - 'Sorry Sir, your car has not arrived with us yet'. Then told that Skoda had guaranteed them the car would be delieverd to the showroom today and so would be ready for collection tomorrow (Friday). I phone up dealer again this afternoon to check car has arrived - still nothing. So now im insured on a car I dont have, not insured on a car I do have and have absolutley no idea when im gonna actucally get my new one. This sucks and I hope it is not typical of Skoda customer service.

If i hadn't signed the contract for the car i'd tell them to stick it and go and buy one else where.

Rant Over, thanks for listening.

I can understand and sympathise with your frustration. :(

does anyone know anything about car contracts - i've not paid them a penny yet - does that mean I still gotta have the car???

Stick with it, you will be well chuffed when you get it in the end. Tell the dealer your thinking of pulling out unless he can provide a tempory car ?

edit: and ask for a definative date the car will be there or else you are going to walk away as they are not keeping to the agreement.

Jeepers that's a nightmare mate. I'm currently typing single handed as my other fingers are crossed. I leave back my Megane at 11am tomorrow morning and pick up my Octy at 12. I am assured that the car will be ready to collect but we'll see. If they balls me about i'll be demanding that the fleet company set me up with a temporary car until it arrives. You don't have that luxury I suppose but i'd still demand a loan car if it doesn't turn up on Monday.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

I might stick with it and try and see what I can get out of them for free when the car does finally come in. Does the Vrs come with Floor mats as standard????? What else can i try and swing?? I've already requested Mud flaps and two extra Vrs badges for the sides of the car. Ay suggestions, lol.

A container of oil would come in handy. I'll be trying for a free litre.

Well im gonna phone them today (Friday) and see if they even have my car yet. I might pop down to Ladbrokes first though and have myself a little wager - i dont even reckon i'd get odds on them not having it though.

Free 10k service? Maybe include the 20k service too if you're feeling really lucky ;)

Definitley demand a courtesy car.

If your car isnt ready today I would demand a courtesy car until it arrives tell them you have changed your insurance over.

i would be tempted to tell them your going to walk unless they provide your first annual service free of charge, but only if you are prepared to walk,

name the dealer!

Hang on mate, it WILL be worth it in the end, and asking for a courtesy car's not a bad idea either...

the Fabia vRS was the most fun car we have ever owned, and only lack of space (dog) caused a change to an octy estate that was on the forecourt at the time. If the new octy vRS does't drive as I hope ( I was not that impressed with the old one (torque) then I will probably leave the wife in the octy and get me a Fabia vRS instead of the runnaround I bought in prep for the new Octy vRS. Hope that makes sense but the moral is Fabia vRS worth waiting for.

Greater love hath no man for his car.

Nice one mate. Bit of anti-climax i'm sure but health to enjoy. What did the dealer end up throwing in to make up for the delay.

So yesterday I pick up my new fab vrs - and a very happy man i am indeed. This morning, in the nice sun shine, i decide to check over the car - "OH MY, WHAT IS THIS" i thought, as i notice the rear quater is covered in scratches - looks like the valeter has used sand paper to polish the paint work. The scratches will not come out with polish, i've tried Mir and Autoglym - neither even touches them. And now, chapter 2 'THE FINAL STRAW' - when i bouhght the car i paid the princley sum of

Sounds like you are really having fun. I would suspect that in the rush to get you into your car they omitted to carry out the Supagard. Get your money back and buy the scotchguard yourself.

Which dealer did you do business with?

Time to name and shame.

Sounds like a ****e dealer. Stand your ground when you visit them.

Just going to add one little thing..

Its an idea to take advantage of the offer my skoda dealer (and i guess all will) for 1 weeks free insurance from norwich union when you buy a new car from them, For ANY driver fully comp for 7 days.

The idea is that the dealer gets the new cars shifted off the forcourt instead of having them waiting around whilst the customer sorts out their insurance.

You cant say no to anything free..

My insurance starts from 18th november, which is when i turn 19. But if the car arrives before then, ill be using this offer. Its much cheaper for me to be insured starting at 19 than 18yrs old.

Think its

Jesus christ you must be so peed off, especially seeing the sandpaper effect on your (mostly) shiny new car, the dealer sounds like a shower of ****e. Get them by the short and curlies mate. Check evey square inch of the motor in case there are more horros in store. Sounds like they did a thorough PDI on it then.
