Head unit advise

Featured Replies

Right, Ive been looking at what head units to go in the car and wanted peoples opinions. Ive been looking at upwards of

Why are you changing the headunit in the first place?

Becuase you want an improvement in sound quality?

Because you want to add speakers/amps at a later date?

The Sony's ok, it's got a good spec, nice high voltage pre-outs that'll allow you to add amps in the future.

However if your changing the standard unit because you want better sound quality i'd personally recommend you look at something by Alpine or Pioneer as their easily the class leaders.

Something like this for example:

Also has a face-off front panel that you can take with you when you leave the car.

Would have to agree with VRS_Si on this one. Units you have selected can easily be bettered for quality by the likes of Pioneer and Alpine. Personally I like Alpine, cost a little more than the rest, but worth it in long run.

I just fitted a new Clarion MP3/CD head unit to my octavia - It has Made a massive difference to overall sound, really impresed with clarity.

I'm still lacking in bass, so putting an active sub in next.

I had the previous model of the sony hu in my old mondeo, sound quality was excellent for the money. Each sound source has its own customisable settings, and the sound was a noticable improvement on the older sony it replaced.
