Columbus RNS510

Featured Replies

Hi,

So today I received a Skoda columbus. The unit part number is 1T0 035 680 E. When checking the software version it says it a 1T0 035 680 K. Is this a good thing? One thing i have noticed is that the unit can be very slow and changing tracks/turning the volume up or down. Reading some threads this seems to be fairly common. I have ordered a fascia trim for it which should be with me tommorow from TPS which is £41 less my trade discount. On the whole, the unit is much higher quality than my old bolero. One thing i need to look at is that the voice recognition doesnt seem to work. Has anyone encountered this? Reading around it appears that my bluetooth microphone needs to be wired a different way.

The difference in part numbers means someone has updated the software for you. Unfortunately you have no idea what modified version has been loaded which could be causing the problems you're experiencing. I've not had any of the slow to react issues personally.

Highly likely that the wiring is at fault not the firmware (although I won't discount it). Search the 'Octavia Mk2' section and you should find several threads detailing the changes in wires that are needed to get voice control working.

I'm debating whether it is worth doing on my Yeti with factory fitted BT but retro-fitted Columbus...

OK guys a little update. I performed a soft reset and the unit was still slow. i then performed a full reset and the unit is now alot faster. Got the unit coded in for £30 on friday and now have it showing through the maxidot. Just waiting for my gps antenna to turn up and it will all be complete apart from working out how to wire in the microphone. I will soon be selling my bolero and the fascia. Any ideas on a price?

Thanks

£150 for Bolero & £15-20 for the fascia.

Does the bolero have a code? Changed my battery once and it did not ask for one.

Thanks

Is there anyway of getting this code for the sale or should I sell as is?

Thanks

Go to the dealer with your chassis number and they should be able to find the code for you.

That's OK id the Columbus was factory fitted, where your proof of ownership would tally up with the V5. They won't do that if it wasn't factory fitted and you can't prove the unit is yours.

I was thinking more about the Bolero unit that is being sold Mike so the OP has a code to sell with the unit.

Same applies. Dealers are now reluctant (or in some cases not able to) just give out random security info. VW dealers in my area can't because VWUK won't allow it due to numerous unit thefts from dealers car parks.
