vRS purchase

Featured Replies

I am torn between the vRS 2.0 ltr manual estate petrol and the SE(L) diesel estate 4x4.  Due to the panic about to decend on diesel cars I am thinking of switching to petrol.  Is the vRS generally recommended.  What extras would be advisable to put on bearing in mind that Park Assist and ACC is a free upgrade, plus the £500 fuel card.  I notice that on the configerator page where you add options as required the Amundsen sat nav is at no cost but in the brochure it is £755 which one is right? I would value your suggestions as to what to add as I have to order it by the 9th June.

Thanks

Amundsen is fre in the UK at present, I had a similar choice to yourself and went VRS, with extremes, black pack, canton, sunset glass, leather were the main options, you also get the acc and park assist in the UK so a good spec.

Any 'crack-down' on diesel cars is liable to be on older cars and not the latest Euro6 spec diesel engines.  Quite likely that Euro5 compliant engines will also be exempt.

Down to personal choice at the end of the day. My Mk1 and Mk2 octys were both petrol, and tuned.... My mk3 is a diseasal.. If I were to have any other octy, Id first have to have a vrs, then also another model as a second car. Membership of the vrs club is important to me. The mk3 is tuned, and imho, it needed to be as the car in standard tune is woefully underwhelming. In context, however, its my first diseasal and im coming out of previously tuned petrol models.

The (initial) slowness (prior to tuning) and the horrible tractor engine noise, for me are offset by the gains - ie mainly the fact im tooling around at 50mpg and it costs only £50 to fill up. The only options I got were to go black, everywhere. None of the other options make it go faster, so whats the point for my life?

Down to you, and your lifestyle. I have a cheapo Scooby for when it snows here, so I have the 4 wheel drive requirement sorted......

It depends on what you want, as the Skoda for me is a highly rated and recommended family car so that's why I bought one. If I want to go quickly or have more fun I'll jump on the motorbike ;).

Get the big sunroof, its ace :D

Is Amundsen actually a free upgrade on the vRS? Because the dealer had it as a chargable option

Who do you believe and trust the most about the product and specification - a dealer or an enthusiasts forum...

Both have known to be wrong :p

With my recent dealings with dealerships product knowledge and offers are sometimes a grey area
