All done and coded thanks for the help folks.

Now you just need the trunk open button ;)

Don't lol, I may not actually be done here yet, my asr button is dimly lit and no backlight on tpms switch. If I press the asr button it lights brighter and is turning off asr but the tpms doesn't seem to do anything. I pressed and held it and it bonged on maxidot but won't do that now. Obviously crossed wires, no instructions as usual and the guide I had for a mk5 golf was close in wire colours but not 100%. The tpms light comes on with ignition then goes off, vcds shows no errors. Close but no cigar....

All done, used a multimeter to find the earth and light + Now about this trunk release ....

I also saw an engine start button on Ali express, trying to work out what I could use that for.

As my research says that TPMS should work with my 1k0 907 379 AK ABS controller I have ordered the kit from the link on page 1 of this thread. Can anybody point me to a fitting guide (I have VCDS) and tell which pin of my controller I should connect it to?

Nikonite - How did you rewire your kit to get it to work correctly?

Ill put up a pinout for the plugs when I get a minute. Holding the button now gives the dash Bing noise and I have illumination so I think it's right. If however you use my guide and accidentally eject your dog from the passenger seat don't blame me.

Thanks Niconite. The kit will not arrive for a while so no rush.

Anyway I will have to buy a dog to test your theory

  • 2 weeks later...

My Chinese TPMS switch and loom arrived this morning.

The loom has:-

2 × Brown wires, 2 × Black wires, 2 × Grey wires and one Orange wire.

Using my multimeter I havd found that the Brown wires shiuld be connected to the switched live, the Black is the earth, the Grey is the feed for the illumination and the Orange goes to the ABS Controller. One set of Grey, Brown & Black wires go to a 3 pin male plug and the others are all terminated with bare female connectors. I also have a 3 pin female connector with no wires fitted.

Questions.

1) Can I get sufficient access to wire the TPMS switch by just removing the storage cubby hole beneath the switch bank?

2) Do I need to remove the glovebox to feed the wire through the bulkhead or can I just remove the carpet under it that gives access to the pollen filter? I intend cutting the Orange wire and feeding it back from the engine bay and then resoldering it.

3) How do I wire up the loom? I assume that I will need to remove some wires from a connector and swap them with the ones on the new loom. Is this done at the ASR switch or at another connector.

Thanks in anticipation.

Basically the small black plug that takes the wires from the rear of the asr switch. Brown asr goes to black, asr grey with brown stripe goes to brown, asr grey with blue stripe goes to grey. The wires you take out of the asr do them one at a time. Then using the grey blue stripe as an example, follow the grey wire down to tpms switch and you will see there is another grey wire in the same pin on switch. That goes into asr switch where the grey blue stripe came from.same for all the others. Sorry I'm **** at describing things :)

Behind govebox there is a big clump of wires to the left and up. There is a grommet that comes out near to abs pump, tape the red wire to a coat hanger and push it through there.

Nikonite,

Thanks for the desription and the photos. It has made things a lot clearer.

I understand that I may have to make two changes using VCDS. One to enable it and ghe other to get the dashboard light to work.

I am going to see the Vulcan flypast at Woodford Aerodrome now but I may have look at the job when I get back.

No problems, wasn't sure how much sense that made. I'm in the middle of stripping some calipers so bit rushed. I think at some point a few of us should get together and shoot some briskoda video guides for this stuff. My dash light came on just by enabling it, don't recall doing anything else.

Hope that you caliper refurb went OK.

I have successfully fitted the TPMS switch following your instructions and when pressed it gives 12v on the ABS wire and it illuminates.

but

I cannot find a way through the bulkhead from the cabin to the dngine bay for the ABS wire. I assume that your octy is a pre facelift as on my facelift version all of the wires appear to go to the centre of the car and exit the cabin through some sort of metal box. Although I have 2 grommets above the ABS controller in the engine bay the wires that go through these then bend sharp left under the scuttle to enter the metal box a right angles to the windscreen. I have run out of time tonight so I have put it all back together and I will search the forum to find a solution. If I cannot find one I will strst a new topic as somebody else must have had the same problem.

Thanks for all your help. I will not be beaten.

Richard
