Which yeti?

Featured Replies

So we are coming up to two years of owning the Fabia Monte Carlo Black Edition. Its a great car but could do with a bit more room now. Spent a lot of time reading up on the Yeti and its rivals and I think the Yeti fits the bill. The fabias on a PCP but I think a personal lease might be the best way to go now, to keep the cost down.

Just need some advice on which model and variant to go for. I would like a well speccd car and something more powerful than the 1.2tsi in the fabia. Not fussed if its petrol or diesel but I would prefer a car that can make good progress when needed. Do about 10k miles per year, mix of driving but mainly A roads.

I guess we are looking for the best bang for buck. I have seen some good lease offers about on the higher spec models.

We are wanting to trade the fabia in, so will probably be looking to sort a deal with a Skoda dealer direct this time. Then once this new lease expires, we will be open to other lease companies.

So...anyone know of any good lease offers or dealers that will be willing to work a deal for us? And what variant would you suggest and any to avoid?

Cheers

The new engine range narrows things a bit but if spec is what you want, a L&K 1.4 TSI would tick all the boxes if affordable.

that seems a decent deal tbh, we bought a 140 elegance on PCP recently after having a 61 plate 170 Elegance for a few months, theres not much in it power wise, i'd say coming from a 1.2 TSI you might find it a bit heavy and not as fast as it actually is, but they arent really a slouch, just a bigger heavier all round car :)

A Yeti Elegance 2.0 TDI 110PS SCR will be a good spec, CO2 emissions of only 118, good fuel consumption of Urban 53.3 mpg - Extra urban 68.9 mpg - Combined 62.8 mpg.

at 10k miles per year you should be sticking to petrol engines, the point at which the extra cost is justified by the better fuel economy of diesel is more like 20K if I recall correctly. The yeti boot doesn't offer that much more space than the fabia though. The flexible seating though is brilliant

Keep in mind with the all new model is not far off and expected to be much more fuel efficient (weight loss particularly) any new old models will be subject to fire sale conditions which will hammer second hand ones.

I've never had any experience with leasing, being a cash buyer, so maybe it's not such a factor.

Bargain hard or maybe consider something more fashionable as an 'interim' car till the new one has been out a while.

Falmouthboy has it with the L&K 1.4 TSI, it's just a crime that engine is only available in the very expensive L&K.

When you say not far off - we're not likely to see any new metal for at least a year are we? I'd also be amazed if the all new Yeti manages to keep the practical shape, its bound to go all fashionably curvy at expense of practicality.

^^^^ the narcissistic fashionistas rule these days if you want to survive the sales war.......are they going to take a selfie of themselves and a Yeti or a fashionable new toy?

Sadly ((((

Cheers all. The 1.4 L&K sounds good but expensive. I can't seem to find any lease deals at a decent price on that one. But does sound very good.

Will keep looking and reading.

I think the 1.4 is too much money for us. The 2.0 diesel L&K seem to be quite a bit cheaper on a lease.

I got mine from my local dealer thru Carwow.
Saved over £2700 without any haggling.

Just fill in the Carwow form and they will email you 4 or 5 of the best offers, you just get in contact with the dealer then and pay as normal.

No junk mail from them just a £25 voucher when you tell them you've bought the car.

1st time I've dealt like that and will use them for any other car buying with no hesitation.

Thanks. I am quite happy haggling with dealers and have done that the last 15 years for our cars swapping them every 18 months or so and always got cracking deals.

The thing that's new to me is that I want to move away from PCP finance over to personal leasing. The reason being it will mean we can afford to go for a higher value car for a lot less than a PCP. It also gives us more flex and options when swapping over, without having to haggle a good part ex buyout when chopping in.

The problem this time is we have the fabia on a PCP so to get the best money for the fabia to pay off the outstanding finance we really need to be sorting any lease through a Skoda dealer.

So we are looking for a Skoda dealer that does good lease deals (maybe Simpsons as mentioned above?) Or a lease company that does very good trade in settlement.

I just got mine on PCP through WhatCar magazine's search page. That led me to Garlands Skoda in Aldershot.

I think they were the best deal at the time.

Thanks will check them out.

Spoke to a lease broker today and they offered me a 2.0 TDI L&K on a 3x23 personal lease for £600 deposit and £200 per month.

Only issue with that is it leaves me getting rid of the fabia somehow.
