235/40/r18's on Golas rims

Featured Replies

As title says....

Has anyone done this? Any thoughts welcome.

Steve.

I guess the Golas are 7.5J? If so, 225 is the right at the widest end of recommended fitment for that width of rim. For 235 fitment, should really be looking at 8J.

However, I'd personally prefer all that sidewall protecting the rims instead of rims protecting sidewall.

Figure I know which is cheaper.

Indeed, with the right tyres shouldn't be a problem either way.

Yep, ones with a nice rim protector bead like Goodyear Eagle F1 AS 2's

Thanks for the input guys.

I can't see there being any major issues regarding fitting the wider 235's.

I'll have a set fitted and report back in a weeks time.

Steve.

What's the desired outcome by fitting a wider tyre?

Can't really see a problem in going up one size practically, plenty of info on the web about what tyre fits what rims and speedo misreading percentage etc etc if you keep an eye on that I don't think there will be much of an issue.

The only thing that would concern me is Skoda (as all makes) have a list of approved tyre sizes for their wheels. AFAIK 235 is not one of them for the Octy3. It may concern you or not but worth mentioning as insurance companies are sometimes known to use every loophole in a large claim.

Yep, technically a modification and also not type approved ........ can of worms
