Rear wiper stopped working?

Featured Replies

As the title says rear wiper stopped working, it was fine on the way to Harwich ferry port got off many hours later driving from the Hook to Germany it got abit soggy after about twenty minutes of driving put the rear wiper on nothing. That was three days ago it hasn't shown any signs of life as yet which is okay while its stinking hot but sooner or later it's going to be needed.

I have had a look on here for similar topics and found a couple all to do with the boot not being shut properly, my boot is of the powered variety so I would of thought that is unlikely. Perhaps it's a blown fuse?

I cannot take the car to my local Skoda garage as SWMBO has it and she is a couple of hours away with work.

So my fellow Briskodians over to you for possibilities as to why it's packed up. Car is fantastic still think it's way better than a Octy mk3.

Was the motor making a chirpy sort of sound as it ran the last time it worked? It may need greasing. My Octavia motor used to do that, as well as stopping in random places as it ran and not responding to being turned on and off until after the engine was restarted. I discovered the seals in the motor had let some washer fluid into the motor housing, which removed some of the grease on the motor gears, which may have been causing it to stall. The problem was never 100% resolved before I sold the car though. I'm starting to get a similar noise on the Superb too, but I haven't had time to pull it apart, but I'm guessing new grease is all it needs for the moment.

Checked the fuse ? won't answer your question why it blow though..sorry.

I had the same issue on one or two Octavias and it was the same as psycholist above.  Happened more than once as well and had to re-greased each time
