How do they get away with that then TP?

Still very new to the Volvo experience, so a lot to learn but I'm not concerned if it has a DPF. Not having it would be a bonus though, as I didn't like how the Skoda examples went into regen overdrive in cold wintry weather over the Wolds.

Thanks. Was indeed a great trip.

  • Do you mean less clearance because of undercovers, lower profile or smaller tyres, shorter springs? Because the platform / body is identical and often so can the hight of the roof from the ground.

We almost went V40 Cross Country but bought the Yeti in the end. We came from a V50 D4 too. The V40 looked a great car in many ways, but for our needs the flexibility of the interior wasn't there as the back seats didn't fold particularly well. A pity really.

Usually just me and my good lady on any trips away these days, so the carriage of luggage etc. it not such a challenge for the V40. However if we did need more carrying capacity at least the CC version has roof rails.

FWD, small diesel (without DPF?) and weighs 1890KG - cripes! ....and there was I thinking the Yeti was a porker.

No wonder it has a nice ride.

Where do you get that weight from?

1,421 - 1,450 kg kerb weight or there abouts for 2 wheel drive ones.

Heaviest AWD Cross Country is 1,509 kw Kerb Weight,

Strange as it was Tom Ford, Top Gear, but a 2012 test which is oddly way out of date and in any case can't possibly be accurate even for an older version.

But I've never heard of a non DPF diesel these days, as particulates are a fact of life, even with direct injection and CR supply, unless they have made a remarkable breakthrough in diesel engine design.
