Kestrel Das-6 spares

Featured Replies

...and the question is..........?

Not sure what happened there !!

I have a problem with a Kestrel Das6 DA.

The small bolt that holds the oscillation unit to the drive shaft has stripped its thread

Any ideas where a replacement could be obtained ?

You probably wont get spares TBH

A new machine is probably your best bet

I had an issue with my DA6 pro a few days ago, and it got sorted by Cleanyourcar.co.uk, while talking to them, they said they do carry spares for the DA6 range, so may be worth a call - nothing to lose really apart from the call.

Nice to know that Phil

Thanks

Thanks Chris,

Seems a bit excessive to throw the unit away when it's only a small single bolt that is required

If CYC are unable to help I might try and see what thread it is or failing that cut a new thread with a tap.

Just in case that doesn't work, what DA would you reccomend ?

Casual use only.

Hopefully it will be a cheap fix

If you have to get another....

The DAS Pro, simply because its more powerful and efficient

You had about 7 copies earlier. :D  How many times did you press submit? :)

Strange Jason

It shows in my Content Page BUT without a Star

I deleted six of them :D  I have no idea why there was no first post and now its showing as your post though.

What do you know about the bolt? A lot of rotary tools use a left handed metric bolt.

Steve, the bolt is about 25mm long and appears to have a right handed thread probably 3.5mm or 4.0mm.

I tried another similar sized bolt (M4 I think) but the thread stripped on it while trying to fit it.

Devonutopia - each time I pressed the "Post" button I got a message saying that there was an issue with the database, it somehow created the post but didn't add the text !

Thanks for deleting the additional posts/threads.

Sounds like you will need to Clean the female thread out too. A tap will be required but normally when you damage the thread on a bolt it damages the thread it goes into so it may well mean a thread repair such as a helicoil or a new shaft or replacing the whole machine as Chris said

I rang CYC and was told to ring back next week and speak to'Dave' so I'll wait till next week.

Dave is the fella that sorted mine, speaking to him, he seemed to know his stuff.

Out of curiosity I rang the number from the Kestrel link 0870.....

Recorded message 'unable to take your call......'

Now that I've returned from a short holiday my parcel from CYC arrived, inside was a new D handle and a complete head unit (I only needed a bolt !!) that's excellent service.

Here's the bad bit the new head has a different size crown wheel to my Das6 so I will speak to Dave and thank him but will explain the new issue.

All I can say is that the guys at CYC go the extra mile.

So near, yet so far!!

They will sort it for you. Shame you dont live nearer
