Radio Replacement - 2005 Fabia Sport

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

First post here, I've recently started having issue after issue with my fabia (the next one will probably be its EoL for me!) - latest of which is the radio (and CD changer) letting go on me.

As a "to keep me going" i bought:  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400654564234?euid=5c1075cf006948079cd43923c416e967&cp=1   - but it would appear most of that I don't actually need if I'm correct?

I've just finishing "fitting it", it works, all is well except a missing facia - as I believe i actually need the FP-20-00 (or similar)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Autoleads-FP-20-00-Audio-Single-Adaptor/dp/B004TW781Y    than the one supplied. I also didn't need to use the supplied harness, as far as I could see there was zero difference between it and the one supplied with the raido, except that went into 1 plug rather than 2 - and while using the aerial adapter, there was no difference as to when it was powered or not as far as I could see (so left it unpowered).

Really posting here to see if the FP-20-00 is the actual facia I require and that I've not made some horrible mistake somewhere along the line !!

Order this part number frol local skoda dealership or put it into ebay:

6Y0857231B41

Its a trim for that top half, just clips in and no need to remove what you already fitted. Should only cost about £3 from skoda

Yeah, here it is http://www.skodaparts.com/product/fabia-radio-facia-trim-36675

Hi guys, I posted in an old thread, but since this is active, I will also take my chances here. I appreciate your help.

Got a 2006 Fabia, and I removed the Symphony unit to put in a Pioneer DEH-X5700BT. Great reviews.

However, the little frame in which it comes, that is removable, doesn't fit. I have to shove the unit into the slot without this frame, but then it doesn't stay put. I don't know how to secure it in place.

The unit is also as deep as the Symphony, but it's hard to get it in all the way as the cables keep getting in the way. I'm thinking of switching it for the one without a CD player, as it's half as deep.

Finally, the main cables fit fine with the adapter that was included. Only issue is the antenna cable is female, and the connector on the stereo is too, so I need an adapter? Any idea what it's called?

Thanks for your help.

The frames are normally tight, keep persevering and it will fit. You may have to bend it a little to get it in but it wont matter once stereo is in. As for the wires again it is persevering that will win, just try and tuck them to one side befpre pushing stereo in. Post a picture of the aerial and we can advise what adapter you need

Ok, so I pushed and shoved, and eventually it went in. Not sure I can pull the stereo out with the keys anymore, though. I have to take out the little cubby below to get the whole thing out. What a pain. The gap between the unit and the cubby below is now wider, as if the cubby is being pushed from above. I guess I can live with that.

More importantly, the unit keeps asking me to set it up every time I turn off and turn on the car. The bluetooth connection with my phone doesn't disappear. Just this initial set up. I don't understand it. It's as iff a part of the radio memory is erased, but not the other. Any ideas?

Photos to follow, but I wonder if you could tell me whether one of these would be necessary. I know I need a little strip at the top to complete the scene, but there are also bigger offerings:

Ok here are the photos.

The gap below the unit is visible here:

This is the connector from the antenna:

This is the antenna connector in the unit:

This is the adapter I got and it fits fine. The question is, is this the right one (amplified/not amplified?):

antenna adapter

This is the connector for for the loom:

And these two are pictures of the loom. I read the wires might need to be switched? Do I need to get another type?

What does this thing do? And, so I disconnect the wire from the brown thing in the last picture, and connect it to this? Is it a ground? Sorry if I sound clueless, but wiring is not my forte.

By the way, I'm in Germany. The eBay link says this is for cars that have a European end on their inline amps, but I'm in Europe anyway. Plus, the radio is fine.

Cheers, guys. Switched the red and yellow cables and looks good now. Still haven't got the antenna booster, but the radio seems to work fine. You think I can get even more stations with a booster?

You will get a better reception first of all. My old head unit was going nuts sometimes, it was starting to search for other radio stations when a big vehicle was passing me, especially when driving around city. With the booster fitted, most of the radio stations quality is pretty close to listening a CD.
