  • Put the wet weather kit on and went and did my Advanced Test.... and passed

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

  • Finished! That's 2016 done.

Yes, really loving it, and in a very different way to other bikes. With the R1200R, I use the huge gobs of torque and electronics package to hoon along in a way that gets bikers a bad name. On the Scrambler, I was out for an hour this morning and doubt I exceeded 50mph at any point. Just gentle, relaxing pottering.

It's the sort of riding that I would have pointed and laughed at for years but now, I really get it.

The plate is a bit of frippery, as the plate i bought to put on the Harley I was going to buy for my 40th birthday is still on my Skoda as the Harley never got bought.

I know what you mean. Alot of bikes just make you feel so focused on makinh progress and getting somewhere fast.. theres little need for it really. Most of us just stand in a queue for a brew when we’re there anyway :D.  I can do either tbh. Pootle around or hoon, i dont find the sp encourages me but it is fun when you’re on it.

Best thing you can do with a Harley ;) :D :D

Pain in the arse isnt it. Takes the fun out of it being watched so much :D

They'll get them on the way out when they set off like theyre on the bsb grid :D

Painful as I am working in Germany quite a bit at the moment and we regularly wind it up to 200 kph and then one comes back to the nanny state where 129 kph brings you 4 hours of torture in a speed awareness course.

Loads of nicking on the way to Silverstone by undercover and vans at 9 am in the morning on the way to BSB.

All about the £££ isnt it.

All main roads here in Derbyshire are 50mph limits pretty much. Go off onto a little mickey mouse route n and do national, if it was possible to even get that fast on em

Riding in a straight line on an autobahn isn’t what motorcycling is about no matter how fast you go,  unless you have a Harley then that’s all you can do but without the speed:biggrin:

@Gyp the miles I got on the CX500 were a laugh. Without modern riding aids, brakes and suspension it was honest biking and even within the road speed limits it felt fast and fun. I’d often be seen with riding around and actually laughing out loud.

Ah, the CX500. Mate of mine had one back in 1986-7 and it was somewhat unwell. I ended up merging CX500A and CX500B engines; one with a knackered crank and one with a knackered cam chain tensioner. Quite how any of the pre-EuroSport ones are still running is a mystery to me.

I still have two BMW boxers from the 1980's that are fun in their own way, but the Triumph is better at being a rubbish old bike than my rubbish old bikes are.

How they had the cheek to use sport on a CX is the real mystery.

By the standards of the day...

Though to be fair, they fitted a rising-rate pro-link monoshock rear end which was pretty much state of the art, beefier forks, better brakes all round, a nose cone fairing, tidied up the styling significantly and made it pretty reliable.

By modern standards it's far from sporty, but then it wasn't too far off the mark, especially if you wanted something that was vaguely sporty but comfortable and practical too.

Dads still obsessed with them. No idea why..

hes bmw mad too mind. Got an R80GS Basic added to the collection now too

@CWARD @Gyp @fabiamk2SE - And indeed, where did anyone find a CX500 that didn't have a dispatch rider surgically attached to the saddle? ;)

They were popular for that purpose and the guy that bought mine was a retired dispatch rider.

Well, That didn’t last long.

Very very stressful few days but thankfully now resolved, Long Story short the S1000R I bought from a Main BMW Dealer which was advertised and Sold to me as a 1 Former Keeper Bike turned out to be a 3 Former Keeper Bike.

Log Book landed Yesterday Morning and I hit the roof, Ive had BMW Customer Services involved and the BMW Dealership who sold me the Bike has been royally hammered.

Bottom Line is a Major **** Up on their part and they have accepted full responsibility.

Sadly though the Bike is going back to them Tomorrow and I am getting my £9000 refunded.

So after just 8 Days of Ownership I am Bikeless again. Just cannot believe it.

As much as I have enjoyed my very short Ownership I am unsure if I will get another S1000R Sport, Get something different or have a Break from it all.

Bugger. Thats not good. Atleast BMW sorted it though. How did the dealership get shafted? Did they not check?

What year was it? Sports bikes get many owners and not much mileage don't they.

Howcome you’re not sure about another?

Could be worse. Someone on facebook yesterday bought a 10k bike for her husband as a surprise without a HPI  check. Turned out it was a Cat C. Private sale too. So thatll be fun...

Just got back from taking Mrs Cakemonster's CBR600 for it's MOT.

"OW, MY KNEES!!"

It's a great bike but a little cramped for my near 49 year old legs especially at 6' 5".

It passed and no leaks from the new headers I fitted last November

Shame it :rain: :rain: on the way home, at least the dogs got to smell "wet biker" instead of me getting wet dog

It was a 2016 Bike, The Dealer got shafted by BMW UK for selling the Bike not as described.

No they didn’t check the paperwork and so it was advertised as a 1 former keeper Bike. The salesman had no idea and just went off the BMW system. Its whoever inputted it into the Sales Database.

Its a mistake on their part but all sorted now.

It took ages to find such a tidy example and I don’t know if I can bothered to try and find another.

My brother had a CBF600 that I had to ride back to his house after the death of our dad and he was too upset to safely ride it himself. I normally ride big adventure bikes so getting on his bike it felt tiny and like I was sat inside the bike. Coupled to fact I didn’t have my own riding gear and I had his jacket on, which was too small and couldn’t fasten at the front. The gloves were too tight and the helmet felt like it was crushing my head all on a freezing cold night, it wasn’t a great experience.

Good work in bad circumstances.

Today, was my bike's turn, it was like a torquey comfy old bus in comparison, it also passed and no advisories.

I don't feel it was a deliberate, Just a genuine admin mistake.

All BMW's adverts are done from a Central Location, The information on the adverts are inputted by a somebody but not a member of Staff at that particular location. Some BMW Database that has all the Spec, Colour, Mileage and Previous Keepers etc.

I never asked to see the Log Book at the point of Sale, I never saw a HPI Certificate but when buying from a Main BMW Dealership I never felt I needed to question what they had said in the advert. The Bike was/is totally immaculate condition wise and as the Salesman described.

First I knew about it was when the Log Book landed on Tuesday Morning, I gave them 24 Hours to get it sorted and then rang BMW UK which is when it escalated. They have bent over backwards to rectify the situation and couldn't have been nicer when I rode the Bike to the Dealership to return it yesterday.

Other options where discussed....

A Service Plan going forward, The Dealership covering all costs obviously

An amount of cash back off the Sale Price but me keeping the Bike

And then if I was to trade the Bike back in I would get looked after with regards to a Purchase Price/PX Price

All of which I rejected because quite simply I wouldn't have purchased the Bike in the first place based on the fact it was less the 3 Years old and I was the 4th Owner, I usually only buy the best, Low Mileage and wanted a 1 Previous Owner Bike which is what I thought I had purchased.

Its sorted now, Refunded me via BACS and I would deal with the Dealership again in the future but at current I have no idea what I want to buy next.

We shall see

Pretty good that tbf. **** ups happen from time to time n its the rectifying it that makes the difference. Important thing for them is that you walked away still with a good view of them and id guess by the sounds of that, still willing to buy another bmw, even from the same dealer. So a success really.

I guess they've now got a 3 year old low mileage R with 4 owners on now :D , not your problem.

Im like you mate, thats what i do and it takes me ages to find the right stuff. Frustrating at times but if its not quite right i wont be happy.

Someone will snap it up. Im amazed every time i and my mates have sold stuff people actually look or are bothered. Someone will see that R, look at the monthly payment on PCP n that'll be it.
