  • Put the wet weather kit on and went and did my Advanced Test.... and passed

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

  • Finished! That's 2016 done.

Unsure what to about this chain on the T.

There are no tight spots or anythin, but it looks a tad rusty on the side of some of the links sometimes. Only surface rust and obv it fades out when i oil it, but soon comes back.

Im thinking wire brush it?

Put it on the abba stand. Start it up. Getvit in 6th, get my brother to hold it at 10k rpm n ill hold the brush next to it. Should only take half a second if the back wheels spinning at 170odd mph... ;):D :D.

Nsh but seriously. I hate chains. Ballache.

That's what we like to see ade using it properly, sounds like an epic ride. Apart from the shopping !!

Tell me about the weather - got a stinking cold that came out of nowhere yesterday and been cutting bricks outside all day for my builder. Feel proper rubbish tonight but some sossies mash and beans has helped :-)

Going to swerve cheddar tomoz as my head is just full of snot so not ideal for a quick ride.

Looks like I'll be working on the house again then !!

More endurance than epic and I was 2 up all the time! It was with the BM club Scottish section and I enjoyed it while we were there though SWMBO did it more out of recognition of me doing beach holidays for years which I hate. The bike was faultless and sat on the motorway it just ate the miles up which was just as well BUT I didn't like the stop start stuff much when the traffic ground to a halt as it always does on the M6 with all the extra weight above and behind me it makes things "interesting" especially stopping down hill.

Gave her a bit of a clean today but the Sdoc 100 didn't arrive until after I'd finished which annoyed me a bit as I need that to get the ACF50 and all the grime from the weekend off the engine gearbox and around the back wheel and suspension. SWMBO is off golfing tomorrow so I might go for a ride and deep clean her after (the bike that is).

Yep, no point risking it with a head full of cold...just keep telling yourself you wouldn't have enjoyed it anyway....

Could you fit a scott oiler to the T? not overly cool I know but makes chain life nearly bearable. I fine wire brush should get rid of the rust just don't get it near the rubber O rings if it has those

Hmm im not sure. Its a good idea. I should be able to fit one under the rear seat, but im abit conscious of the mess they make. My old VFR had one and there was a bit of a puddle under the pillion seat from filling it up and what not. I'll see how i go, hopefully with me only really using it in dry weather, it shouldn't be too bad?

I've brushed it off just. Looks abit better but ill have to see how long that lasts i guess! Fingers crossed!

I've no doubt its the original chain tbh. It's had a new 15t (instead of 16) front sprocket but i think that fits with the standard chain and it does look standard. Should last a while longer than 6k shouldn't it...

Me crying off sat ? Not a chance chaps. My names not Oli lol

Can't stop sneezing tonight, ridiculous.

Depends on how it's been looked after, but if there are no tight spots and it fits on the sprockets correctly it'll last for a fair few miles yet I'd have thought. What lube do you use?

That is always a lot of fun with a helmet on!

It seems okay, but i might get my local bike shop to check it out when im passing for a second opinion.

I've been using this mate..

Used it on my past 3 bikes and its been 'okay'. Sticky horrible flingy stuff though haha.

Any recommendations on stuff you've used in the past mate?

Its all sticky horrible crap to me. Gets my clean bike dirty :D.

It does seem to do its job on the chain well though :D

At least the sneezing kept the brick dust out of my nose. Looked like an oompah lumpa after a days cutting.

A good 130 mile run on the T after work this evening. Just got back.

Really enjoyed it actually. Especially on the way back as their wasnt much on the road, woo!

Good practice for Saturday then Oli.  So what limits the amount of miles travelled then level of numb bum or fuel?

Its actually comfier than the VFR mate. Straight back n i dont find the pegs in a bad place either. Seats surprisingly comfy too.

Fuel is the restricting really. Especially cos theres no fuel gauge. I put £21 in it last night in 2 fuel stops (neither time was it empty, but i wasnt going to make it to my destination so thought i might aswel) . Its a mixture of a small tank and not being very good on fuel either i think :D.

Its roasting n im under floorboards again.

You guys out riding today?

Had a full 12000 mile service done on my Tiger 800 roady by MuddySump mobile mechanic at my home. Excellent mechanic and dead thorough. Saved me between £150 and £200 on main dealer prices. Bike now ready for holiday in Lake District next month.

Are we in the starting blocks for Saturday chaps ?

Chris - any more thoughts on a meeting place in pie town ?

Are we still aiming for an 11 am meet ?

Oli will be setting off early to allow time for the 7 fuel stops on the way :-)

Weather is looking ridiculously good.

Sorry Dave been so busy this week and not looked into it any more.  Can we meet at Grantham and then I have a route in my head for later?

Works for me Chris, no worries !

You have a pm Dave.
