  • Put the wet weather kit on and went and did my Advanced Test.... and passed

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

  • Finished! That's 2016 done.

I can do next Saturday as well strangely enough but NOT the Sunday as I will be having a messy one on Saturday night with a couple of friends staying over.  Where and when?

Excellent work Chris - 11 am meet again ?

Location wise I'm easy, Grantham works or Melton for a pie.

Lets see what Plumb Bob wants to do and I will work with that.  If you do fancy a meet at Grantham I can sort out a bit of a ride from there if need be.

We'll get dinner, a brew and cake for Chris?

Reg/rec etc update: New one arrived via myhermes / mynemesis, bench tested and test fitted without mounting and proved a little better but not by much (bargain for a tenner though). Moved deeper and ran bike with a home made drip tank to test the AC coming from the stator :( Not entirely promising should be making 42V across all 3 phases, but is making 24 on 2 only and not rising much with engine speed. My new thought is though since my lithium hasn't discharged at all and held its charge for a week and taken charge from bike running etc that it seems to be enough for that battery to run without ill effect on bike (it charges in minutes from dead not hours being a big help I think). Going to put the bike back on the road today and am off after this week for the NW200 week, will get a chance to test it more closely on the road. Would like to take case off side to check condition visually, but don't have a gasket or any sealant to do it today. Also had to order some new tank fixing bolts from a kawasaki dealer in England as mine as in a shocking state and only got them off with luck and latherman in one case.

In other news bit of a rattle from the cam chain too on idle so going to change to a manual CCT I think. With that all done, the wee beast should be good for many more years to come. MOT reminder arrived too weird as it's not until mid June might do it a month early to get the 13 months (can still be done in NI) :o

Pleased you are getting it sorted then Fuby.  Sounds like there is an underlying problem that will need sorting eventually.  Time to trade the old girl in maybe?

That's who I bought the xr from, blade at rednal. Good bunch in there. I know the md of the group and he genuinely cares for the customers and earns their loyalty.

Well the street flew through its mot this morning, just an advisory on the rear tyre which I measured before it went in.

Didn't feel great on the ride over as was out at a works do last night but managed to stomach (just)an early burger from the butty van. Wife was laughing as I was almost gagging.

Ahhhh now I understand how you got your 1st service free LOL. The previous owner had quite a poor reputation so I decided to give them a go over Benhams as I bought my previous BM from there when it was still owned by Mr Clarke

Right oh chaps ride it is then. Shall we pencil in 11am then I like the idea of a known ride. Great idea Chris.

Yeah blade seem to have sorted things out, Pete in service is a top guy, max the sales manager is very helpful. So far they've been great.

Just hope the weathers good.

If you wouldnt mind throwin me a postcode of wherever closer to the time mate, thatd be great :).

Excellent. Be good to all meet up finally.

Gave both bikes a good clean this morning, lubed up the chains so just need to decide what tyres to fit to the wife's street.

Pilot road 3s looking favourable, some reasonable deals on with the 4 out. Be perfect for her riding.

Got next week off and meeting up with a mate for a days ride Wednesday off down to cheddar Then back through Monmouth, Ross, Ledbury Malvern. With of course lunch en route. Good training for Saturday !!!

Sounds great!

There isnt much at all between the 3's and 4's anyway. They last well too. Probably another 10 years by the sounds of the amount of miles she does :D

Ooh cheddars mega isnt it. Not been there in years! I seem to remember a bloody steep hill though! :D.

Gonna go and watch some local racing i think at Darley Moor tomorrow if the weathers fit

Lol you're not wrong mate, thought about the pirelli angel gt but that's way too many miles for her lol

Yeah it's a cracking area, hope the weather is good so I can stretch the xrs legs.
