My thoughts - Superb 2.0 TDI DSG Estate

Featured Replies

I didn't bother with the MDI , I find a 32mb sd card works great.

+1.

We have two SD cards in each car, his 'n hers!

Easy to use & update as/ when required.

My cars both have space on the hard drives for music + the ability to play MP3 encoded DVD's, mostly used for single artist / band compilations.

( Numpty Q?, MDI means that I'd have to have a smart-phone loaded with music in the car?)

I do own one, but only for when I need a spare phone / network or want info such as news. maps, etc.

As a phone it's rubbish, my baby Nokia has great battery life, excellent bluetooth & real buttons to press when

making calls.....)

I enjoyed reading this thread.

I noticed a few comments about map updates for the Columbus in my 2013 Superb Elegance estate, the last time it was serviced I asked the supplying dealer whether there had been any map updates, the answer was no. How could I find out which updates have been published so I can make sure he does it at the next service?

Press and hold "Setup" until you can see "Version Information", and select that. There it will tell you what version of maps you have. The latest is 8348.

Many thanks, I'll do that today.

I have just checked and found that I have version 7918. I don't know how many increments there have been up to 8348.

I'm not too up to date on this (and there are plenty of threads on here that discuss the map updates and firmware etc) however this might help. It gives you an idea of what updates happened when - you just enter your cars VIN number.

Many thanks Dave,

The link to the portal looks fantastic, but unfortunately when I type in my VIN it tells me everything is up to date (which I suspect it is not because the maps have not been updated in the 2 years and 4 months since new. I'll see if I can find somewhere to force a download of the current maps, or failing that get the supplying dealer to do it at service time.

Hi Dave,

I've done some research and found that the portal is for the later (Superb III) Columbus system, which will accept a SD card update.

Best wishes,

Alan

To complete this piece: I ordered an update from Fleabay for only £9.49 delivered; it arrived in the mail today and took about 30 minutes to update the maps in my system, which now has version 8348 and works perfectly well. A good result I think.
