Octavia ii combo maximum weight

Featured Replies

I have to pick up an RS4 auto box, full rear subframe and brakes and two doors plus a few other bits. Should I be worried about the weight. Was planning on putting what I can in a roofbox to try and spread the weight

This thread suggests 340kg in the back, as long as you spread it over the boot floor so it doesn't damage the board.  I don't know what the maximum roof weight is, but a driver-only car (again, according to that thread) can only legally manage something like 340kg extra on each axle, and I would not feel comfortable putting much weight on the roof.

I know it may be too long-term an idea if you've got something to collect soon, but have you considered a trailer?

I think I'll just have to do two trips, it's not for me it's for a mate who lives in the west country. there is lots of lightweight stuff like clocks and interior trim so that will go in the roofbox.I doubt it will all fit in one trip anyway.

Makes me feel better about the 200kg of roofing slates I had in the boot the other day! :)

And the 300kg of tiles I had in the back of mine...

You can only put about 60kg on the roof. My roofrack weighs about 10kg, so not really worth bothering.

What roughly would an rs4 gearbox weigh at a guess.it looks huge.

Audi A7 Quattro box is 124kg.

I was thinking similar but more of a "good plan" I need to teach the missus to drive.

Ah, there's a lot of air in wood though Mike, done that to mine plenty of times and not even thought twice about it. Had a full second hand shed on my roof before, just drove a bit cautiously whilst looking at it constantly through the sunroof. :D

I had mine loaded up with bags of coal. It filled the boot, and the front end went light but it was fine :)
