Red battery warning light not illuminating.

Featured Replies

Recently when the ignition is initially turned-on the little red battery light symbol in dashboard cluster does not light..

Everything else appears to be working as normal.

Could it be a fuse or a blown bulb, if fuse what number would it be, if a bulb what is the code number ?

Is there a thread on this site to run through the removal of dashboard to replace the bulb if it's blown. ?

Idea's and any info anyone, would be very much appreciated..?

It will be the blue wire going to the two-way connector on the alternator; broken somewhere. Most likely at the connector pair on the front of the gearbox.

Dfm wires broken on the alternator

All the lights in the cluster are soldered in LEDs, no normal bulbs.  But as the guys above have said, no battery light is a classic sign of broken alternator wires.

Thanks for all the info and advice members.

Alternator connector clearly visible looks a sound connection.

Will have a good look at the (near) gear-box connection, once under-tray removed.

UPDATE:

Connection near gearbox was the fault.

Blue inner copper cable snapped but was being held together with it's outer blue insulation.

Blue inner copper cable started to crumble and disintergrate so cut cable back till reached a sound piece of cable, (about two inches).

Cut male connecter off and rejoined with fresh cable and crimped cable connecters and used (red) speaker spades onto/into female connecter, wrapped finished job in insulation tape.

Quite a simple effective job, once I had been advised by my fellow members.

Thank you all for taking interest and giving sound information..
