Diesel vRS mpg

Featured Replies

Converted to your silly units I do an average of 42,30 UK MPG's over a long period (53 refuels in ±32.000 kilometers) since november.

That includes about half that on winter tyres and almost always using the block heater before running it (which preheats the engine so while it uses diesel to run it also saves it by not running a cold engine, ever).

I have a sporty driving style frequently topping 100mph but also a lot of longer drives (100+ mile stretches) when visiting customers, and a reasonable amount of congestion driving.

Seems like we have the same driving style as I have the the same average, about 6.6L/100km (or43mpg), using this site here:http://mpg.webix.co.uk/

Best I have done was Luxembourg to Ostende there and back was 5.6L/100km (50mpg), but I accept the fact that 184 horses need their food and I didn't buy a stable full of them only to use half of them. But considering that even when I adopt the greenest, most defensive driving style I am capable of I still get a consumption that is 1litre above Skodas claimed average of 4.6L/100km, you realise that they live in lala-land to claim those figures.

  • Long term I've averaged 53.5mpg. My commute is mostly along the m27. Driving it hard along A roads high 40s low 50s is easy. With sensible driving abroad recently it did 580 miles on a tank with a rep
