Possibly Caught Speeding, Questions

Featured Replies

Yer we have a van here in Stockport snooping a lot lately. I drove past it at 33 so I'm sure I will be ok. But all said and done the limit is there for a reason. So to all theses people saying there using us drivers as cash cows smell the coffee its against the law and if you brake it you pay for it.

But it's lazy policing.

Can't be bothered solving robberies, assaults etc but have enough money for average speed cameras and shiny new camera vans.

Don't blame the police blame the government.

All fines go to HM Treasury. Neither the police nor local councils profit from fines.

I'm afraid I'm very boring about speed limits as I'll try to stay bang on. Motorway average cameras irritate me though as the lanes are usually narrower. I use cruise and set 50 on the nav. I generally find I'm going at the same speed as lorries, which I don't care for and there are plenty of cars overtaking me and taking a risk.

I have noticed more drivers riding my back bumper than when I drove a MINI. Maybe it's a provocation to get you a ticket. I'm not playing.

I enjoy the spirited drive of the VRS and can leave plenty behind on the twisty bits, whilst enjoying myself and not breaking the speed limits.

When I get people tailgating which is quite often I give the the finger. There is no need for it and I often have my little girl in the back so it annoys me even more. I would like to punch the sh+t out of them but then I would be breaking the law even though there putting my daughters life at risk.

Ok bear with me, this is no2 for FUBAR to retire early on.

Take the concept used here:

Yes I like honda adverts ;)

Then take a upscaled arduino breadboard (gathering dust in cupboard) and LED display on parcel shelf ( like the highways agency have )

Then program it with words of your choice... now what words can we use.

You bet it puts your little girl's life at risk.

Especially when the 18 stone thug you gave the finger to takes offence and decides to cut you up and punch the **** out of you whilst she watches.

You that thug then are you.

No, but I don't spend my life giving the finger to people who I think are annoying me.

Who you think are annoying you. Well if some one is 2 inches away from your bumper that wouldn't be annoying to you or dangerous for that fact. So the deserve a finger or two.

I almost got beaten up; thank god for central locking, in Wales, following a car, passenger threw mcdonalds bagg and stuff out. Dave, asleep in back awoke when I blurted out something. In re-enacting the scene of passenger throwing, which I did a few times as Dave didn't see me clearly... yep, driver ahead thought I was doing something else. NExt set of lights he was out before the car was stopped. Thankfully he was a big lad and not as nimble on his feet as he could of been on salad. Thankfully also the citroens central locking, locked. As the lights change I drove off around his abandoned car... oh how I wish I had my led matrix working.

Lets save the rage for those who need it, not each other ;)

I don't give the finger, I just use the gearbox more.

Yeah I wouldn't be giving the finger to someone like that. You don't know who they are or what they might do.

If you truly think you are in danger then pull over and let them past.

Worst road rage I had was after overtaking a guy in a Pug 206 in my Citroen ZX 1.9D. He didn't like it and flashed, beeped and waved at me. I gave him the finger and that was like a red cloth to a bull! He then started to chase me with him and his passenger signalling me to pull over.

I had to work that Citroen hard to get away from him but luckily he had less power and I knew the roads very well. He caught up with me when I pulled into work a few miles down the road and his passenger came banging on my window. I sped off and managed to lose them.

There's some nutters out there. Stay safe!

It was only a few weeks ago on here people were discussing two different road rage incidents where people had been stabbed.  Doesn't matter how much you think you are in the right or how hard you think you are you can still be the innocent victim of some nutter with a knife/gun/whatever.  If you are worried about your little girl safest option is to pull up safely somewhere let them past and let them become someone else's problem.  Doesn't make you soft just realistic.

Giving someone the finger may make you feel better but unless you like taking risks with yourself or your family it is better to ignore these goons and stay safe.

After reading your comments I kinda get where you're coming from and I will be more conservative.

And bjm sorry about my rant. Well I will try. As for speeding it keeps the treasury topped up lol.

I'm sorry but I had to laugh a lot reading that. Picturing the scene of a ZX 1.9D and whatever equally as slow engined 206 accelerating off into the sunset fast and furious style (without the fast)  :giggle:

I reserve the right to mock, as I have done my time too! Owned for 6 months drove it twice then scrapped it.

Chalk and cheese springs to mind!

On my way to work i travel through a few villages with 30 limits,i always drive just under the limit in 40's 30's & 20's & have had a few cars right up my rear bumper trying to push me along yet as soon as we leave the villages & im up to 60mph they tail off until the next village & it all happens again,it was role reversal the other morning as i caught one of them up in a 60 mph limit as they were doing 45mph,as we entered the village with the 30 mph limit.....yep you guessed right they carried on at 45 mph,i slowed down in the 30 & caught them up again in the 60 limit as they were sat at 45 mph,i dont know if its lack of awareness or what.............

Too right doing 25 in a 40 area as they havent noticed its 40 now . Or the opposite if i'm on my pushbike got to overtake then go slower than me , braking as they go past.
