Octavia First Service

Featured Replies

Hi

My dash board is telling me that I have 800 miles to my first service. The Skoda dealer near my has recently shut. I know that the car now has an electronic log book and gets stamped by computer. It has recently been in for a software update so this is not a concern.

I am not expecting my local garage to be able to do this but are any of the national chains able to carry out the service and stamp the electronic logbook?

Thanks

Garnett

Whilst under warranty get it done at a Skoda, VW or Audi franchised dealer - you may regret it further down the line if you don't, VAG group tend to look after their customers outside of warranty with 'Goodwill' as long as you have full dealer history.

Is there not a Skoda Service Agent near you?

Thanks Andy

There was but they just closed the Skoda side of the business They considered that it was detracting from VW business.

Apparently they are no longer going n the same sites.

Think you should contact SK UK, (assuming you are UK). Asked where nearest dealer is and if its a long distance and you are still under warranty, see if they will allow a VW franchise to do the service. They are basically the same, and the Tech's there must know what needs doing.

Which dealer was this - i thought you'd had update at carrs, Exeter? Only dealers I know in Devon are murrays in Plymouth and newton abbot, carrs in Exeter, and is there not Barnstaple skoda?

There's one somewhere near Bridgewater as well isn't there - seem to remember picking a relay up from there when on holiday a few years ago - I know it isn't Devon, but not that far away.

Hi - Murrays in Newton Abbott were 10 minutes from work but the droped the skoda side to sell VW. The rest mean a day off work which is a pain! Asked if the do courtesy cars but no answer from Exeter.

I purchased a paper/hardcopy log book for this exact reason (and my local dealership are clowns that i don't trust as far as i can throw them). I had my first service through my local mechanic who i trust and have been going to for years.

Ah I thought they were still doing skoda after their refit recently (and annoyingly the website still says so) - it is actually the most local to me (being on the moors now and not Exeter).

So carrs don't do courtesy cars? Know it's a pain going into Exeter but they could probably service it whilst you wait on sat morning or something, if they won't give you courtsey car / drop it off early etc. I was proposing to use them for the scout by might take it to Plymouth as murrays down there are pretty good so far on the vrs.

Did you get the log book from Skoda, or is it something generic?

I tend to do servicing as while you wait on a Saturday, if you book a few weeks in advance you can normally get the first slot. It only takes an hour or so for a service.

purchased...someone saw you coming. I requested one on the day of collection and got it FREE.

Can anyone in the know suggest if this is dealer-goodwill, or a requirement that they supply on request?

I inquired about a service booklet a week after I collected my VRS as mine was getting an oil service at 1000 miles, and at 5k intervals after that.

I had to buy it (around £8) and it only comes as a duplicate which is printed on all the pages, a tad disappointed really after lashing out over £26k for the car and then having to by the service book!

On the same theme, what's it costing you guys for that first oil change? I reckon dealer is having me on for a filter & oil change...

£129 inc VAT but they clean it and do the software updates as well. Managed to get a free courtesy car by booking 3 weeks ahead.

I had an independent specialist to do mine @ 1000 miles, £111.

I made the mistake of assuming it came as standard and didn't check. Lesson learnt.

Thanks for the initial feedback on costs they seem reasonable& logical.

My local independent usually charged me around £100 on the Furby, skoda website states £139, 'stealer' quoted me on Monday ... Wait for it.... £187! Assured me that they would do no other work other than the oil & filter & set fixed or variable servicing on the car.
