So, I've just got back from Scotland. Took my VRS up there. It's the longest trip I've done up to now. 900 round trip door to door, plus 800 miles up there. My god, I love the car even more after this trip. What an absolute animal.

First off, I averaged 43 mpg on the way up. 4 bodies, 3 big suitcases plus all the other holiday crap. Hit 450 miles to a full tank (99 Ron) had to use 95 up there as struggled to find 99. Even with the 95 stuff, I still averaged around 40mpg on the driving around so was very pleased.

Even with a car full of people, the car still pulled like a freaking train. I'd heard the roads in Scotland were incredible and wow they truly are. As well as being a stunning country. I don't think I've ever seen anything as beautiful as the Highlands.

Had a play on the roads, not very often ragging it but just enjoying the roads and the car. The car just sticks to the road, not once did the car feel out of place. Not once did the car scare me. It just did what I wanted it to do. A fair few potholes around etc so had a few bumps but still a very comfortable cruiser IMO.

Hearing the turbo/supercharger whilst blasting through mountain roads. Incredible.

I averaged 42 mpg on the way home. 60/70mpg 95% of the way. This trip just proved to me that this is a practical car. You get what you want out of it. You want a sensible trip you'll get one. If you want to regularly fill up your tank. You can :-)

Anyway. Sorry for going on but just wanted to share this. Oh and also, she didn't use a drop of oil ;-)

Yeah the roads are incredible and really grippy to due to the good amount of rain they get. The roads are washed a lot meaning they're nearly as grippy in the wet as dry. Did you drive from Fort William towards the Isle of skye? That's my most favourite road up there a87.

I agree - they are an awesome car. Especially the combi version

I did Somerset to Scotland not long back, managed 56mpg on cruise at 70 all way there, 8 hours non stop driving.

It's a pretty surprising engine!
