Favorit Fuel Pump Relay

Featured Replies

Hello,

Am trying to locate the fuel pump relay on my 1995 Favorit Estate

Thanks,

Roger.

Hello according to my Haynes manual they have a manual pump that looks very much like the one in my Triumph! The relays are located in with the fuses in a panel under the dash in the passenger footwell but none of them are for the fuel pump.

What problems are you having?

The fuel pump relay along with a couple of fuses is in a small plastic box mounted on the passenger side suspension mount, just behind and toward the bottom of the ECU which is also mounted there.

Oh Ok, well your knowledge is certainly greater than mine. I'm just going by an old Haynes manual I found at a boot sale. They even have a picture of the manual pump.

Wouldn't be the first time Haynes got it wrong!

Thanks, have found it and removed but can't find a new one with the code TYP 543.

Does anyone know of a replacement or do I just go to the local motor factors and ask for a similar one?

As amusing as it may be to think that the Haynes manual is completely wrong; it may just be that either you have a copy of the manual that pre-dates the EFI cars, or you're looking in the section for the carburetted versions, as they used a mechanical pump. With the switch to fuel injection, an electric fuel pump is fitted -- hence the "afterthought" installation of the relay and fuses for it in the engine bay -- and a blanking plate installed over the location where the mechanical one should fit.

You are entirely correct. I've just had a look and it says 1989-1992. I know its easy to mock Haynes manuals, which is why I did, but it was meant in jest. They aren't perfect but they do help. The Felicia one is very much geared towards the 1.3, a lot of 1.6 stuff isn't properly illustrated but it sort of helps.

Oh, it's very very easy to mock Haynes manuals; quite often, they do deserve it. :) But they're mostly right, most of the time, and that's often good enough.

They're probably nothing special. Does it have a circuit diagram on it? Or failing that, numbers moulded in the base next to the pins?

It is a normal relay and it can be changed with any relay of 30 A that you can find in spare parts shop.
