So im going on a euro trip around through the french, swiss and italian alps in september and i'm taking the car, ive decided the pads fade too quickly for my liking and i want to some new one's put on before i go, having a quick look Yellowstuff pads seem the best to go for as ill be doing lots hairpin bends, track esq driving, only trouble is when i go on there website its asking me what calipers i have and i don't really want to take the wheels off to check

 

so would they be ATE or TRW according to their website?

The part number you need is DP41517R, had these pads a couple of months and they are so much better than OE, if definitely get the fluid changed at the same time too, use either ATE super blue or type 200, both do the same job

actually good call on the fluid as this will need to be done on its service in august, are the ones you mentioned just a higher temp rating?

Useful information noted for next pad change, thanks! Should be soon I think as brake pads have got 47000 miles on them so far.

*** ignore the following, duff info ****The Skoda part number for the pads appears to have changed at the beginning of April 2012 according to this page; so it may be worth checking the date of manufacture of your car (not sure if 2012 Sept referred to registration date or manuf date?), and cross-referencing whatever you plan to buy to the appropriate Skoda number depending which side of the change yours was.

I've no idea what changed between the two part numbers so it could be quite irrelevant to your query.

Edit: ^ I just lost confidence about what I've posted there, 'cos I get different info from that site depending whether I select 'FABI' as the model or 'FAB'.

It seems FAB covers both mk1 and mk2, and FABI only later mk2s but I don't understand why there's two overlapping model categories. Happy to be educated on this. :)

Edit2:looks like I picked the wrong one, no CAVE or CTHE engine codes for a 2012 'FABI' so that can't be right for the OP's car

Maybe the calipers were amended slightly when the engines went from cave to cthe? Mines a cave. I'm sure it's build date is June and registration was sept 2012

Wino, what you say may be correct but I can confirm that EBC Yellowstuff front pads for the Fabia VRS 1.4 TSI (2010-2015) is definitely DP41517R, this is regardless whether it is an estate, hatchback, CAVE or CTHE. Hope this clears it up for anyone looking to buy these pads.

I can also confirm you have the ATE calipers!!!!!

 

I also have (and recomend) ATE blue racing fluid ;)

 

I had to do a slam on emergancy stop for a red deer on my way home from work this morning (as some speed, which I wont admit to!) I was very glad of the brakes (and tyres) to be able to miss what would have been a very dead vRS! :o

Cool stuff. I know you have the pads and I've seen your car on YouTube so I know there upto the task. Just need to find some decent prices. 160 quid for a set of front pads seems a bit on the pricey side. That just could be the northerner in me talking lol

I'll have a look for the fluid too

When I get my breather mod and oil squirters done I was thinking of getting them to do the rest of my minor service, pads and the fluid so it won't need another service till next year then. Should be a bit cheaper as they'll already have half the car apart under warranty.

Obviously not Yellow, Green, Blue or Red or any colour of stuff Track Pads,

but damn good at stopping the car and they do not rust like OEM ones.

 

Not a question of being a tight up northerner, just being sensible and spending money on fuel to go further rather than brakes 

for going slower and stopping.

£140 of newness does that just fine along with the DSG.

i can vouch for the imense improvement in having EBC yellow stuff pads all round. also finding the mtec drilled and grooved discs very good so far.

I think George is saying they are just generic ferodo branded replacements of the OE pads, I'm pretty sure (don't quote me on this) the correct pads for a VRS are FDP1641 for the front and FDP for the rear if you were after ferodo.

They also do there track spec pads which are the DS2500's, which a lot of people swear by but are a lot more expensive than Yellowstuff, part numbers are FDS1641 and FDS1083.

So 164? You need to buy 2 pairs right? Or does 4 come in a box

thats for the front two, didn't realize you were after rears too, I really wouldn't bother, below 60 mph they do about 15% of the braking, a bit more above ect ... I have never overheated the rears, and am still on the original rear pads and discs at 46,000 miles, with a lot of braking abuse in there... the rear discs and pads on my grande punto were OE at 120,000 miles.

Wow, if they're the standard ferodo pads to replace the OEM's, I think I might go for the yellowstuff. The FDS1641 are well over £100.

i was saying i buy 4 New Ferodo Discs and Standard Ferodo Pads all round for £140.02 including VAT.

But that is not for track use, and not for Alpine Passes.

 

But then i do not use my brakes very often, even on a Alpine Pass

and the discs can corrode badly, and ruin pads easily.  But i never have brake fade and have only ever crashed when using brakes 

and never when not braking.

wow didnt realise you got 4 pads for that, ive only ever had to buy pads for my motorbike before and those only come in pairs, 82 quid isnt too bad for 4.

they are good value, you can buy pads for £18 , but they will melt in the sun, and my choice would be tarox corsa's, but they are about £160 for the fron axle.... the yellowstuff are half that price and 90% as good :)

ATE blue racing fluid

 

There seems to be different versions of this fluid on a quick google search, which one should i be looking at and how much fluid should i need to change my car over to it?

I just got the one can, and my tame mech bled it  through each channel :) (its blue, so easy to see ;) )

 

just to note, the pads were not enough on the track, I needed the fluid too!

 

not sure about differnt versions, just went on ebay! lol...

Both Ordered :D i wonder how much the dealer would charge to fit now, might end up taking it to a normal garage to do.

I would, then as far as the dealer is concerned, they are just "replacement parts" ;)
