Hi all,

Been lurking for a couple of weeks and found some really useful info and wanting a little help, hopefully I'll be a long time member and will be able to repay.

I purchased a Mii from thecarpeople and took it back because it smelt so horrendously bad of cigarettes, fortunately they were really good about it. The car itself was otherwise perfect.

I instead a citigo from thecarpeople and it's got a few issues and wouldn't mind a few opinions on whether I'm being reasonable asking for repairs.

The air con isn't as cold as it should be and is making a trickling sound, both tell take signs of low refrigerant.

The heat shield for the exhaust manifold and also underneath the car are damaged and loose causing quite a rattle.

I'd ideally like a new heat shield and air con regas, should I be OK to ask for these things?

Many thanks, Martin

Hope the images help determine if I'm being reasonable

How old is it?

Maybe still under manufacturers warranty?

The heat shield is a common problem on these. I think most of us have had them replaced.

It does sound like your air con is needing a refill.

Thanks for the fast reply! It's March 2012 so I'm certain it's out of warranty.

I should push for replacement shields. They are a known issue for rattles. Air Con never gets cold enough even when new. But go for a degas. Paul Douglas Cars did a good job for my service by M18 Jn 1.

Mine is pretty good to be fair, only issue I have with it is the lack of center vents to direct the air into my face from both sides, (I have the passenger one facing me but it's not the same)

Worth going back to the dealer for new shields and A/C regas, it won't cost them much to make you happy

Wouldn't it be better to cool down air in the car, not a face. ;-)

Cheers all, Douglas Paul is only 2 minutes so I'll go there if I need it topping up. I've now got it booked in with thecarpeople for warranty repair but they're hesitant to confirm if the heatshield is considered as covered by the warranty.

My plan is to ask them to put in writing that they're responsible if any future damage occurs due to failure, hopefully that'll persuade them.

Regarding air con, in the tobacco scented mii I had that was ice cool, I even had to turn it off last Wednesday when it was 31 degrees c.

I like a cold face lol

Don't turn a/c off, but mix some heat instead by turning the heat knob.

Mr. Clutch Centre at Hillsborough are doing an Air Con service for £32.95p with a voucher from Groupon.co.uk
