My EML came on today while driving to work and car had no boost. So I scanned it with VCDS when I got home and it pointed to the MAP sensor, which I had actually just replaced due to getting a fault code previously. 

Anyway, I took the bumper off to have a look and try the old sensor back in, but randomly decided to start peeling the black tape off the wiring just to see.

Lo and behold, two split wires. 



Is this easily sorted? How heavy do you think it will be on the wallet if I have to take it to an electrical specialist place?

just join them up yourself and tape them up easy

I would twist them together and put heatshrink over, then re tape the loom. This is probably the best "bodge" to fix them unless you have access to a soldering iron tbh. Heatshrink can be had from maplins, or halfords if you are desperate

Where in the country are you? I'd charge you a bottle of not very good red wine to fix that permanently with solder and heatshrink and probably some fresh bits of wire to replace the bits that will have corroded to buggery near to where the insulation has failed.

They don't look severed, so unless getting grounded wouldn't cause your issue.

Yep.  Depending on how long ago the insulation got damaged, the copper near to the damaged parts of the insulation may have turned green and may well be struggling to carry the signals.  Knowing Skoda there probably isn't enough length to cut a few centimetres out, to get back to fresh, clean copper for re-connecting, hence my suggestion of splicing some new bits of wire in to bridge the damaged areas.
