values!

Featured Replies

How much would you think a 56 vrs is worth only problem is it has been clocked somewhere in its life. When I bought it spent some money on it only to find out the mot was dodgy and it had been clocked and I'd already spent a lot of money on it so stood to lose a lot more.

The clocks read 155k it's done more like 230k

What would it be valued at with that history?

Or how much could I expect breaking it? Factory xenons, cruise etc seats are not upto much but everything else is fine.

Cheers

Can I ask what is the reason for you wanting to sell it? You've already said you've put some money into it but what have you actually had done?

I'm not sure these are worth much in bits but I could be wrong.

What's the mechanical condition of the car and what's the bodywork like?

Any evidence in the history of big items being replaced such as new/upgraded turbo, clutch/flywheel etc?

As soon as most buyers hear the world clocked they'll likely walk away, is there no way of finding out the true mileage and having them reset so at least they are as accurate as possible to it's real mileage.

Vagcom can be used to find the cars true Mileage btw, then you could get it adjusted to what it should be and sell it on maybe?

How long ago was the clocking done, by checking the MOT mileages.

& is that all,

does the Engine Number match the VIN & V5?

Vins all match first thing I checked, I noticed something was wrong when the vin on the mot certificate didn't match the car so then tested it and it cost me a fortune to fix.. tyres, bottom arms, drop links etc etc

It was the mot that sprung the mileage up .

It was an ex company car so mileage was high has part history of belts etc no turbo.

Mechanically it's sound, abs has just packed up though but hopefully just a fuse.

I'm only debating selling it as I've got my eye on another car

When was the cambelt/waterpump last changed? As these are supposed to be done every 4 years or 60-90k depending on which service manual you read. It's also pretty important on these that the correct oil is used at each service hence the importance of a good service history to get a good sale price on the car.

How much are 56 platers going for on autotrader with that sort of mileage have you had a look? Could be a good place to start in terms of getting a value.

Would you be buying this new car from a trader/dealer? If so they sometimes offer above market values on cars if they want to secure a sale to meet their quota, but it's more the big dealerships that do that. Small independents probably wouldn't.

Not sure mate think the last stamp in the book is 2010 it had belts... not sure on dealer yet...

I'd be happy ish if I could get between 1000-1400 is loose a fair chunk on that

As stated by Updown789 do you know anyone with VCDS that can run a quick scan of what the ecu has the recorded mileage at?

It won't give you the exact mileage but it should be correct within a few hundred miles. I should imagine you could get the clocks adjusted using this info as also previously mentioned.

I've got vag com how do I find out true mileage?

Well vcds lite

If there is no response by tomorrow I'll bring my laptop home from work and post up where it is. I need my laptop as I can't remember myself. I do however have full VCDS but I should imagine it will work on lite also.

Won't show me... only mileage I can get it to show is what the clocks display.. well sorta according to vcds my clock is too high

Think I'll just buy a ibiza cupra and keep the Fabia possibly to pull the engine from my golf or BAM engine if poss.... some research needed now

Just out of interest, what does VCDS show then and what do your clocks show? Are you sure it has been clocked and the dodgy MOT is just that, a dodgy MOT and the mileage recorded is just irrelevant?

My clocks show 152000 when I done it vcds shows 151???

Vagcom is always a little bit out, 1k miles sounds right out of 150k. I think your car has not been clocked, just had a dodgy mot, which is better news at least

Yes I would edge my bets on this also.

Thanks for your help

Ahem you DO know that VCDS states the mileage from ECU in KILOMETRES? Yes? :)

So if the clocks say 151,000 if it was not clocked I would expect the ECU to say something like 244,000 km when using the VCDS odometer app, :)

Actually, looking at Ross Tech link it says both KM & Miles.  Interesting.  I swear mine didn't do that the last time I used it??  Confused myself now.  There is also the chance ECU has been swapped too of course.

If it does mate then my car is clocked and I have every MOT and full Skoda serviced history. VCDS says around 107000 and my clocks say just under 106000 miles lol

Edit: not only clocked, but apparently the wrong way! Lol
