skoda fabia 1.2 12v S advice 60 plate

Featured Replies

Now looking at one of these, am I right in thinking the S model is most basic, what my dad would normally drive, lol

Any known problems with these engines?

Are these on cambelts or chains.

What should I look for in viewing one, this was registered in October 2010.

MOT is due in October as being a complete novice with cars would it be wise to get it checked in for a mot, know it would be better if a mechanic checked it over, but all I know about cars is whats read on here.

This is instead of a monte its white that's about it.

Any idea on what price guide  should be paid for one of these, mileage is around 45k supposed to be v good condition

Yeah the S is the most basic spec. Black door handles, wheel trims, no ac, no electric wingmirrors etc etc.

The 1.2 htp is a good engine tbh. Its got a camchain. Its just a basic little 3 pot. Nothing fancy, but pulls better than youd think at low revs and should last a good time!

I see a car advertised in Leeds.

A 2008  Fabia, Orange with White roof, 1.4 16 valve. 31,000 miles, asking price £4,500  (just an asking price)

Pre Facelift model, but could be to her taste.

will have a look, she doesn't know im looking at this I thinking car for meantime she has been looking everyday said she saw a vrs I said no way lol

if its on chains would that be same problem with 1.2 polos chains snapping

Sorry i know nothing about any of them.

If you look at faults in cars you will find some of every car that goes wrong,

luckily the majority do not go wrong.

If they have done, then look for one that has been broken then repaired.

I know where you coming from sometimes you only hear the problems.

is this engine the old htp, I believe timing chain issues was with the tsi engines.

This car is white no black roof, but I need to get through to her she should just needs to  get used to driving a car first, its not all about looks, lol

Is it the 6v what is to be avoided in this engine.

The s model aint got alloys for her to kerb, does it feel really basic as if you in bargain basement

Nothin wrong with the 6v as far as i know.

The 6v was 60bhp and the 12v 70bhp.

Until after the facelift. Then they only did the 12v with 2 different ecu maps

so its the 70bhp, I thought I read in reviews a while back the 6v struggles, may have just imagined it, my brain is now messed up re cars.

Im confused as some adverts say cambelt changed but yet they supposed to be on chains?

Ive never driven the 6v version so couldnt comment. But the 12v doesnt struggle, abd nore does the earlier 65bhp 12v. Youve just got to know how to drive em. Going up a steep hill at 40mph in 5th gear is obv a no no, it is a 1.2

Its 100% a chain. Ive no idea why it says cambelt changed either.

I have the 60 horse version, it's the S model so yes, most basic. Doesn't feel basic to be honest the only things that make it look a little cheap are the open topped glove boxes which aren't a problem at all and the Swing radio which I've replaced with the Columbus but that has an Aux port and will do everything you want from a basic radio. The engine is great, I believe the 60 horse is a 6 valve but I don't know for sure. It pulls well and even if I drive steady it has got 49 MPG and a constant 41 MPG cruising at 100 69 MPH It has been, fingers crossed, absolutely bombproof and had no problems whatsoever even after hammering it round Rockingham. And you can ash some members on here what it's like on track they'll tell you it's a little bomb. So for 60 horse it's not far short of anything. A little more grunt on hills is all I could ever ask of it.

Mine is an 11 plate, the facelift was in 2010.

Yeah. Yours will be a 12 valve then i think.

We used to have a 12V 70 SE. Cracking little engine, we would have no problem having another.
