Car in Storage

Featured Replies

My Superb II is going into storage for 6 months.

Will I dump the computer; radio; satnav etc if the battery drains or I disconnect it?

Is it safer to leave the battery connected and take a chance?

I use an optimate 4 on the bikes in winter. Its brill. Charges, conditions and trickles

I think I'd be more worried about the tyres and brake discs

Pay the storage company the extra to keep it on trickle charge, and to fire it up until operating temperature every now and then. You'll keep the juices flowing. If it's proper dehumidifier storage then brakes wouldn't be a problem, but as above, the wheels should be rotated periodically to prevent flat spots and your tyres from rolling like 50p pieces.

I'm doing the same for 1 month. So figured tyres won't be a problem, and if I get a friend to start it up every week it'd be fine? Or will it be OK left completely alone? Thanks

If you get your friend to start it up and run it for 10 mins or so once during that month, then I would've thought you'd be fine. Tyres won't flat spot over a month, but if your friend rolls the car a quarter rotation then no extra real effort for them.
