Happy man now - Instrument panel

Featured Replies

Well, I am a happy man...

A while ago I was cleaning the perspex on the instruments, a task in it's own right if you don't want bloody fine scratches as soon as you touch it... (pity they have not thought of a better idea by now :( )

When I had finished I noticed a scratch had appeared, across the fuel gauge, seemed quite deep, I am sure I even felt it with my finger nail...

So, yesterday, cleaning day I did the same clean as usual, using cotton wool with glass cleaner.. noticed what I thought was an even bigger scratch, but lucky for me with a bit more glass cleaner it went away (Phew) ... Errr hang on, were was the original scratch???? that had gone as well.. :)

It must have been a real bad mark as I have cleaned the instrument quite a few time since never moved :)

Real happy now :)

That's great Stuart. When glass cleaner did you use? I have those rotten tiny scratches plus another deeper scratch which I'd love to remove...

I have used the Surf City Garage stuff, all there products are fantastic and give great results ...

Always gives good smear free results, although I suppose any good glass cleaner will work :)

I also use these on the outside,,, the wax is superb and a large tin inc the pad and cloth, and the wash/wax gives a good foam... so far I have kept the car relatively swirl free..

Not cheap but good stuff...

If you have a lot of scratched on the instruments (as I did on the Seat Exeo) which is why I take care now using the air duster first to remove dust/grit, then cotton wool pads with glass cleaner and then just gentle pressure, I have kept them in fairly good condition.. there are a few marks in bright sun, but after 12 months on the whole I am happy...

On the Exeo I used this to polish the panel, gave very good results, not 100% perfect but better than it was....

I did not use the abrasive paper.. noooooo way, just the polish on a cloth, needed to do it a few times but it did improve the look a lot.

No problem, that perspex scratch remover is good stuff, I won't say it removes everything but t did improve mine...

It's about time they designed something that did not scratch so easy... great when new but as soon as you touch it it's scratched :(
