Looks great,love exhaust trims,makes the car i think.thats one of the main reasons i ordered the L&K 280 4x4,expensive them exhaust tips!!!!

If you have a 1.4 all it needs is a few quid for the pipes and a hacksaw ;-)

May leave the white on ... My last performance car did about 4mpg when driven enthusiastically and about 17 when driven carefully..... I'll not be losing any sleep worrying about the Superbs fuel consumption :-D

I used to worry about running costs, but since I've only managed to do 13000 miles in 32 months in my Superb, perhaps I shouldn't worry too much....

 

Auto-trader has a few cheap Superb V6's for sale, maybe I should buy one as a fun car?

Dunno... 3.6 is very nice but would their be a massive difference with your current 2tsi ? My advice .... Keep the superb and buy yourself an SL55 for the weekend :-)

I've driven both....

Massive difference? No.

Significant difference? Absolutely.

Not quite chalk and cheese but not far off.

All that said I'd love to try the new 280. It could be a corker even though it has replaced displacement for turbotrickery

According to the Amd Tuning before & after figures, my 2.0TSi made 214.9 PS + 291.0 Nm before the remap, & 252.6 PS + 361.6 Nm afterwards.

That's not much less than the published figures for the V6, but I'd need to to a back-to-back comparison with a V6 to see just how much better it is.

 

Obviously 4WD would make a difference, better traction but additional weight / drag, but I'm quite sure that the bigger engine would burn more fuel overall,

It's also going to sound nicer & have a different feel overall.

 

As for an SL55 for the weekend, I'll probably stay with my remapped EOS for now, but if I could ever find one of the uber-rare 3.6 V6's for sale I would be seriously tempted.

 

A weekend cruiser should sound nice, especially if it's a drop-head!

 

Should I bite the bullet & place an order for a new RHD Mustang V8, or should I just mumble off into my dotage in my sensible cars?

Sounds like a Yank ;-)  I remember driving a Chevrolet Vega in Canada in 1972.  2.3 litre engine - 92 mph (on the clock) flat out on the highway.  The similarly sized Vauxhall Viva with an engine half the size (1159cc) managed a top speed of nearly eighty.  (Of course, it didn't help that the Vega was fitted with a two speed automatic box!)

Got another call from skoda dealer today my L&k 280 now in the country be ready for me by end of the month,soooo wish i hadnt ordered that rear wiper,saw one today with it,spoils the sleek looks,bit gutted.fingers crossed jungle green and 19in pheonix wheels look the part though,not the most popular choice,good to be different i suppose! Its going to be a long two weeks!!

Will be able to remove the wiper and install a plug I'm sure if it was that much of a problem?

I wonder if the 280 has any other changes beneath the skin compared to the other engines ?

The wiper arm is fitted to the glass.

Thanks for jungle green pics,think im going to be pleasently suprised and pleased with that choice of colour,its a marmite choice i know,for me far too many white silver and grey motors about.will post pics when i collect,will either be smiles or tears when i do! Sure i can live with the wiper,not taking it off and putting a plug on it,how would i fill the bath tub!!

Pleased to help. The colour has much more depth than you pick up in pictures. Also has subtle tones depending on how the light hits it. Sometimes clearly a metallic green base; other times a bronzy effec. I was also worried that it would not suit the larger Superb but I think it  looks fine. SWMBO had the casting vote and she has never got it wrong with all our previous cars. She chose a midnight purple Grand Vitara once. (Gulp)

Never had so many admiring comments; it had such depth that it looked 'squash'. Showed every little scratch though and was a beggar to keep looking clean.

At least you and I will be easily recognisable to all the other SIII owners on here!!

Yup its the real thing.... Well it's probably a trim but I get exhaust fumes out of each when its cold and that's what counts ;-)

Thanks Nick. I really don't need 4wd and the additional cost over the 2wd 220 is hard to justify but there's just something about the 280 that is just screaming "have me"! Dan
