New Fabia vRS in Cumbria

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My first post, so i'll make it short & sweet. My name is Jon and i'll be receiving my new Fabia vRS in about 5 weeks now.

Can't wait. It will be Diamond metallic silver, Xenons, Cruise control, heated seats, third head rest and apart from that, totally standard, for now. ;)

Any useful comments on what to expect in the running in period would help I guess. Also, your general comments on my new car would help as well.

I had a NIGHTMARE with my new Renault Megane. Had it for 18 months of HELL :thumbdwn: Now soon to own a decent car. ;)

Cheers.

The manual tells you all you need to know about running in the car. The problem is being restrained enough to comply. You'll find after about 1000 miles the engine starts to rev much more freely. Just be patient.

cheers, any help is appreciated. Do you also have a Fabia vRS ? If so, for how long and do you have good experiences with the car ?

yes, mines a red one. Its bog standard. Had it just over a month and done 1500miles. I love driving it and have not been disappointed. i just wish the seats were darker, i'm not looking forward to cleaning them.

I too had Megane 2. NEVER AGAIN! :thumbdwn: Water leaks, central locking problems, clutch start, rear tyre wear (Bald after 8000 miles ON THE REAR ), water in the headlights and fog lights, Alloys going 'rusty' + more rattles than Mothercare. I had a PCP so I gave it back when I was able too. The vRS is just Fantastic. You made the right choice. Good luck in 5 weeks. I had to wait 12!!! :(

Where in Cumbria do you live?

Good to see another cumbria

Hi,

It's good to see more Skoda's finding their way into Cumbria, as the only dealer is in Carlisle or north Lancs.

Which area are you from? I'm a Octy vRS owner from near Kendal in South Cumbria.

Hi,

Thanks for all your replies. Robbo 51, you used to be in the Megane owners club (online) ? Yeah, thought it was you. You were the guy who told me (and everyone who read your story) about how you eventually, after 50% of the finance was over, handed back your Megane and bought a Fabia vRS !!

Well, after reading them MIRACULOUS words 'HAND IT BACK', I am doing the very same thing !! If it wasn't for you mentioning that I would have had mine for 3 years  :thumbdwn:

CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH MATE !!!!!!!!

I live near Whitehaven in Cumbria and test drove my Fabia from Telfords in Carlisle. That was purely by coincidence THE DAY AFTER reading Robbo 51's thread on the Megane forum. I wondered what all the fuss was about regarding the Fabia vRS, so whilst shopping at Asda (sad eh ?) I persuaded my Wife to pop across to the showroom and the rest is history.

It boils my blood when I read guys on the forum comparing the Clio 172,182 etc, etc against the Fabia vRS  Listen to me, who cares how fast the Clio is !! If something goes wrong (and i'm sure it will) NONE of the dealers know how to fix them !! I've been to 5 in the whole of the Northwest and that's enough proof for me. No wonder they trail in 64th in the J.D Power survey and I can tell you this as well, their 'SO CALLED' Customer Services are pityful.

Anyway, enough of Renault, Viva Skoda. :D

welcome aboard... I'll look out for you when I'm up that way (which I am quite often cos I'm from West Cumbria...) I've got an admiral blue octy....

Wow. Youve made me feel like an automotive hero.:rofl:

Seriously, I think it was the right thing to do. Yes it was porobably costly but what the hell if you cant live with the car best get rid. I now have a car that makes me feel good every time I go out in it. Welcome to the THE BEST car forum on the web

Just ordered some chrome door handle covers from Butts of Bawtry (Milotec agent) They would look really good on a silver Fabia and they dont have sensors that pack in !!:rofl:

AND

Dont leave out the little extras I've added ;);)

Scotchgard your seats. If you do get a mark it just wipes off

I've already ordered my chrome door handles from Jhbutt as well. I agree with you Robbo, they do look seriously cool compared to the standard black 'plazzie' type :thumbdwn:

If anyone has added some cool looking accessories to their Furby (no boy racer/Max Power dude stuff though) let me know. By the way Robbo, I think you already know about fixing the chrome door handles on, but, anyway here's a tip. Make sure that the plastic is cleaned with THINNERS first and NOT Methalated spirits or anything oil based as they will eventually fall off :thumbdwn:

I had plenty of experience with this with other chrome bits on the dreaded Megane  Adios.

Forgot to ask you Robbo, any regrets buying a Black car. My Megane was black and an absolute NIGHTMARE to keep looking good :thumbdwn:

It looks great though doesn't it, when it's dry and in the Summer months but cos i'm in Cumbria, it's usually seriously poor weather all the time so i went for the Silver metallic. I think it looks nice in silver.

Another tip for anyone who has a black car, invest in a Chamois leather, a good BIG one. after it rains just wipe it down. You just can't beat a bit of leather. :D:D :P

Had a black car once (25yr ago). Never again. Cleaning it was the most unrewarding task ever. As soon as any dirt landed on it from wet roads or dust from a dry atmosphere it looked awful. Since then I've always gone for dark blue or red . Hence my red vRS.

Red is a good colour, i'm just not fussed on the Yellow one, although it suits some. Should we get a poll together for the best colour ?

Hi all!

Still waiting for my Fabia VRS (in black - bring on the Chamois Leather!) - should be able to pick it up in the next few days! :)

I think a poll on the best colour would be a good idea Jonny Boy!

Yeah, nice one mate !! BUT, whatever you do, DON'T put her through the dreaded carwash !! I sometimes did this and it took 2 - 3 hours to polish all the fine scratches out. Looked bloomin gorgeous after though ;)

Colour Magic (the one with the touch up stick attached to it) is absolutely ACE for Black. You can also buy CLEAR wax from Turtle Wax as well, so no 'white' all over your black bits.

IMO Black is the best colour for the vRS. Swissol is the best product I have EVER had. It keeps some of the road muck from sticking. Its not cheap but worth it. PS. I dont mind washing and cleaning the car. My wife's Clio is black too !!
