Do I keep my 1.9TDI VRS Special edition Original or not?

Featured Replies

I  recently got myself a 1.9TDI VRS Special edition. It is a lovely little car and in fantastic condition on 70000 miles. I intend on keeping it for a long time.

The question is. As there aren't many of these around and they are becoming more desirable as time goes on, shall I keep it in its original spec without doing any Modding, painting etc.

I can see these cars becoming a sort after little car and generally people prefer them standard.

What do you guys think?

Standard all the way for me. Even tho i dont own the vrs.

If you start doing stuff its never ending and you get that money back.

Aslong as you keep it well maintained and with less miles. It will hold value.imo

I was maybe thinking of a milltek exhaust and having the wheels done black but as I said I think as a standard VRS SE it will be better in the long run.

Get an remap and get the alloys powder coated black as when you want to sell the car you can get the standard map put on and you could get your alloys put back to original aswel.

The thing is you could modify how you like but keep the original parts so you can put them back on but i would only recommend doing the above two and maybe get some coil overs and tints.

For me it'd be remap, Eibach or similar springs with dampers and a RARB. Also get cruise control if you've not got it.

The wheels have probably blistered by now so getting them redone is another colour be an attractive idea.

If you think there going to be desirable then do things that are easily reversible. Remap, Rarb, brakes, lowering kit.

You'll have a fun car and when you want to sell, can be back to standard in a day

If I was looking to replace my 2007 Fabia vRS with an SE version, I would not be interested in the slightest in buying one which had been modifed in any way even if subsequently returned to standard. JMTPW.

I'm the same as above really.

I'm no longer in the market for one, but if one comes up local I'd be tempted.

They will hold the value extremely well if...

1) it hasn't got 1,000,000 miles on the clock

2) it has full service with good oil

3) it's 100% standard.

Even down to wheel colour for me.

Standard and Standard again, its all about the original look of the car, when it comes to desirable older ' classic ' cars mod's devalue the car, if your going to get the wheels done then do them in the original colour, ensure it has full service history and keep every reciept you have for GENUINE parts etc.... all this matters, chavy mods do not.

It's a fabia vrs not a fezza. Just do what you want with it.

P.s. I paid a little over the odds because it had all the mods that might otherwise have cost money so not everyone is the same.

These cars are never going to be classics. So imo just enjoy the car.
