Dealer launch pics and first impressions.....

I Liked the original superb even if it was a clone of the A4 But never been a fan of the last superb always though of It as the Octavia's ugly sister but this looks seriously nice and has all the design cues & accents as the rest of the family just a bit bigger and more refined I guess. Thumbs up from me.

I have not seen the car `in the flesh`, but looking at the doors, the `lip` at the bottom of each door concerns me somewhat.

It looks like it might be a dirt trap.

Can anyone, who has seen the actual car, comment?

Many thanks.

Mike.

Don't you mean a Passat clone? Because that's essentially what it was, a stretched Passat.

We are talking about the same thing the VAG B5 was a Passat / A4 / Superb.

Good point alright!  There are a few lines around the car like that actually, around the hatch area and front end also.  I think water and dirt should run off easily enough (when it hits the car) as the lines are more free flowing in 'real life' however not sure about running it through a basic car wash though - some of those indentations may be unevenly washed - a bit like what happens under the boot lid and lower bumper sometimes.

Thank you.

I look forward to seeing it myself....whenever that might be!

Really?

When did an A4 ever have a transverse engine?

I'm talking about looks, you would have to open the lid for this to be relevant, It probably is closer looking to the

Passat in all honesty but Im sure they all share the same B5 platform Fundamentals. Anyway digressing a bit

the new one looks great and is a clear style all of its own.

Well, Superb 1 was just a re-badged Passat Plus / Chinese Passat & was indeed part of the B5 platform family, as was that generation A4.

Superbs 2 & 3 are indeed transverse engined, & are effectively stretched Golf / Passats, albeit from different generation platforms.

As for styling cues, they all used to share the "arched roof profile", as did the Mk 3 Ford Mondeo & one of the big Citroens........

It's brilliant silver, isn't it ?

It looks like Business Grey to me

Actually you might be right... I just checked it on my desktop PC and colors are much more gray than on my laptop, that's why I thought it is much brighter, Brilliant Silver... So it might be Business Grey, as it is lighter than Quartz Grey.

Any other opinions?
