What deals have people got - discounts, pcp, pch

Featured Replies

Very tempted by the current offer from New car-discount.com......£8513 off a 280 dsg l&k!!! looks too good to be true, and the saying is....it probably is.

Saying that, my local dealer offered me absolutely nothing off!

Would that be `Wings`?

I realise that I should be asking the question from Simpsons or any other skoda dealer doing PCH, but I have already sent too many emails to them. On a PCH deal can you overpay the initial deposit to reduce the mostly cost? I know the deal I previously posted was about £1500, but to get past the wife I want to pay a slightly bigger deposit to get the monthly payments down.

Whatever you do, don't do that!

On a PCH, you don't pay a deposit, you pay an initial payment.

This is different in that once you have paid it, it is non refundable. This makes a huge difference should the car be stolen (¬ recovered) or is written off as a total loss early on in the contract.

Imagine the scenario, that you have paid 9 months x £237 (£2133) as an initial payment and the car is written off after 1 month :( You would lose all that amount. Better off paying the smallest initial payment, usually 3 months, therefore you would only lose 3 x (£711).

You can get specialist Gap insurance, to cover any losses over your standard insurance, and is quite cheap, but they don't cover (usually) the initial payment. They will just cover your ongoing payments whilst any insurance payout is pending, and any shortfall of the payout against the value of the car on the finance companies books. HTH

Cheers 999pooch. It's safe to say that's one of the biggest issues with a PCH deal. But over a two year period assuming I don't write it of or have it stolen I'm going to be no worse off than on my current pcp deal which as it stands looks to have lost about £2500 of my initial deposit when it comes to the end. There are some crazy prices being touted by broker sites but I just don't believe them which is a shame because I would probably got for another pcp deal if the numbers balanced.

No, as a matter of fact the Kings Lynn dealer!

Funnily enough, just got back from walking the dogs around Wings, they are in the middle of massive rebuild....the showroom is a garden shed!!

Was on the `Rainworth Skoda` site earlier this afternoon.

They had an advert offering 0% finance on a PCP with an image of the new Superb underneath.

Clicking the online chat, I asked her to confirm that it was for the new Superb...she said it was.

On checking with the dealership, they said that it was not...it was for the MKII.

Great isn't it when the dealer puts up misleading offers and the online `chatters` give out duff info!

Shame, coz I'd have jumped at that offer!

That would suggest you live in Peterborough.

Would you not still order from there even though they dont have a showroom at present?

Why would that suggest I live in Peterborough? .....20 miles away actually, just took the dogs out for a drive/ walk.   I would use them if they were prepared to give me a 23% discount like I can get online, which I very much doubt!

Advice please!

I'm considering ditching my company car scheme and sign up to a personal lease.. as it would save me a small fortune per month.

My biggest concern is what do they consider wear & tear.. inside & out. How strict are they when the car is handed back.. etc etc.

Any other factors I should consider??

Thanks..

Google BVRLA fair tear & wear guide, and lease from a company that uses it (most do)

Didn't think you'd go 20 miles to walk the dogs...my mistake, sorry.

My local dealer is offering the £2000 deposit contribution on a PCP, but that's all.

I'm also tempted, but a 220 DSG L&K, I can have my panoramic roof with some of the saving, as I would get £8k off.

But very wary of the deal unless someone can enlighten me about the reliability of the offer.

Comically this deal is cheaper than an Octy VRS with leather and Columbus for same engine so doubly wary. Where do they get their cars, main dealer or some other source?

My local dealer is offering the £2000 deposit contribution on a PCP, but that's all.

The £2K deposit is being offered by SUK, so effectively your dealer isn’t offering you a penny off.

It strikes me there's very little benefit in trying to deal with a dealer. It's been confirmed on here the online dealers can deliver on their 20%+ discounts. I'll try to get a dealer price match but if not I'm off to Coast 2 Coast. I think the days of showrooms milking the punter are over.

Got some quotes today from Carwow, Coast 2 Coast and New Car Discount for a fully loaded 280 L&K.

It seems dealer offers through Carwow have gone to pot from when I last checked. Ignoring the 2K contribution It's just shy of 1K dicsount on a 41K spec car. On finance with the contribution it's 3K off.

C2C looking good with nearly 8K off. Got a call from them and checked details - it's driven delivery so miles on the clock.

New Car Discount offering 9K off  :o plus they seem to have a lot of good feedback from various review sites. Email says I get 1st registration and free trailered delivery.

Collection from dealer is also an option with c2c and that's what I'm planning to do.

C2C will trailer deliver costs aprox £1 per mile I was told

Cheers guys, don't know why he didn't mention those options to me over the phone.

It says on the new car discount site that they do PX, does anyone know if that's only on hp deals? Would seriously consider a pcp deal with them if they do.

Not sure this is correct RE gap insurance. I've had it in the past and I was told that in the event of a total loss, the gap takes me back up to the invoice price paid, not the value of the car at the time of the claim.

Different type of Gap insurance ;)

Specific PCH gap will cover your potential payments & the difference between insurance payout & value on finance companies books.

Ah, ok. I didn't realise there were different types of Gap insurance.

It doesn't say anything specific about limitations on a PX in their terms and conditions but don't take my word - give them a ring :)

Just had an email through of my local dealership and I've attached a screenshot of part of the email I got.

Am I being fed a load of crap?

Yes. Default response to explain why it's someone else's fault there's no better discount. Options:

1) Get a quote from other Skoda Dealers via CarWow. Take best quote to your dealer and simply offer them the opportunity to match it. See what happens or go with best CarWow quote.

2) Coast to Coast look good based on others' experiences of ordering - but no deliveries yet.

I'm looking at a 6+23 10k for a Business 2.0TDI with Leather at £222.50 inc VAT.

Mulling over whether or not to add Canton sound. Would probably be £20/month on top. Funny how when you're buying it for just 2 years it seems expensive.

But looking forward to driving a new car and then again 2 years later.
