Hazards on emergency brake

Featured Replies

I've never had to slam as hard on the brakes before as I did today on the motorway today due to sudden braking from an accident ahead.

Gotta say, it was a 65-10mph as fast as possible stop, and the brakes were more than adequate in the little citigo.

However, I noticed that the hazards came on for the period I was hard braking. I know a few cars are equipped with hazard warning under severe braking, but hadn't realised the citigo was.

Acted as a good warning to the car behind me - who fortunately, like me, had left a safe distance from the car on front. Another example of good kit on the citigo! Not sure if it's model dependent, though!

Same on mine, if you watch the video of when I slammed into the deer you'll briefly hear the hazards flash a couple times, 60 - 5mph in around 2-3 seconds

Varies a little from marque and model. A Pug 3008 I tested was flashing as soon as I stomped on the b pedal. The new superb they came on after we'd stoped, fortunately no other fancy things deployed. One of the features is accident detection, so if you have windows down it will close them to a gap to reduce debris flying in.

Ah, pretty interesting.

I'm a big fan of tech on cars, especially being a CompSci student, but I'm totally all for safety features. As I say, I hadn't realised my car had this. Knew some newer cars were fitted with the hazard on brake feature, but I assumed you'd have to have the Citi-Safe pack install; something which I do not. Shows you what I know! But always good to know that safety is always considered. :)

if the abs doesnt come on, you're braking too early :)

You should check these options in VCDS...
