Tomr88 model collection update 1/9/15

As some of you may be aware, I am a bit of a model enthusiast. I like to collect rare models of cars and modify them for some customers and myself..

My latest model is of one of  my all time favourite cars and a bit of a rarity and struggled to find one in the UK but managed to find one in Belgium.

The Model is of a BMW M5 E39. It is not the highly collectable version in dark blue but in the equally nice Silverstone blue/grey. This model is 1/18 scale and is made by Otto. It hasn't got any opening doors, bonnet etc as it is a resin model but is still a very highly detailed model. Unlike my other models it will not be going under the knife. As it is of one of my favourite cars and I think it looks perfect standard, the only addition will be on the interior putting carpets in and making the seats look more leather like. Because it is L/H drive, I will have to find a suitable German plate rather than a UK plate :(

Hope you enjoy.

PICS (will get better pics up when my diorama set is finished)

Can I ask where you find these? I did have an idea of getting a model of each car I've ever owned in the colour I had, but I found alot of my cars didn't exist as models on ebay etc.

I generally keep an eye out on eBay and European die cast model websites. In Europe there are so many manufacturers and it's just pot luck finding right car, right colour. I don't mind paying over the odds for a rare car like this if it is highly detailed, mint condition and perfectly boxed

Out of interest what models would you be looking to find.

That looks awesome :) would love a mk1 Fabia vrs model, but doesn't look like one was made

No, one was never made. I ran a poll on here and e-mailed Abrex to show that demand would be there if they made one. They never e-mailed me back and the whole thing died.

The only mk1 fabia shape made was the mk1 wrc car. Believe it was solido. Used to have a model but quality was so so.

Chinese company make a normal mk2 elegance but no vrs but a smaller 1.43 scale of the mk2 vrs is around

I'm away from home so can't access the details, but last month I picked up a business card from a trader at the NEC model show that understood my own model collection of the cars I have owned and said that he specialises in making exact copies to customer requirements from a photo or description.

When I get back, I'll find his details out and post them on here.

He said he can make any car, any colour, any spec to order.

Loads of 1:43 scale Fabia's available but the WRC was the only 1:18 scale made. Abrex made the 1:43 Fabia's.

Red- Vauxhall Corsa B

Blue - Ford Fiesta mk5

Silver - Ford Focus mk1

Black - Octavia vRS mk2

I know these are all very normal cars but it would be pretty awesome to have each car I've owned lined up together and then keep adding to the collection.

Here are few more pictures of previous models i have made. The JCB and low loader was made for the owner of a local construction company to replicate his fastrac and low loader.

These are some 1/50 scale corgi models i have recently acquired. The idea is to weather them to the grimy look of some trucks.

Ahaha. Might place an order for the fastrac.

Put a cattle trailer onto it n its just like the one my mate wrote off his R32 skyline into.

a sore subject

I reckon he'd appreciate a model of it... :D;).

Here is the latest addition to the collection. This one is a keeper as the detail is unreal.

The car is a BMW 550i touring made by norev. Actual carpet on the floors and roof lining, opening fuel cap, and split rear tailgate.

Please excuse the poor pictures, will update with better soon.

Keep Eyes peeled for 1/18 mk1 focus RS
