Hello to all, does anyone know where the earth connection are on a MK1 octavia, having a few electrical gremlins, its a 2001 2.0l petrol engine car, thanx in advance :nerd: :coffee:

Depends on what circuit your issue is, but the main earths to the front of the car are under the battery carrier - you need to remove the battery and carrier to get access. There are earth points in the rear, the most common being by the rear light clusters.

Depends where on the car

Inside the car near the the steering column and next to the relay plate under the dash (Undue the two screws on the under dash plate above pedals). I think there is another on the near side if you remove plastic trim on the side of the footwell

Thanks for all replies, very helpful as always,as for problems with mt octy, there are a few intermittent faults which is why i thought the earth may be problem, they are no1 sometimes the interior courtesy lights including red lights in bottom of front doors just wont work, then maybe I could get out of car and they are fine,it doesnt make any difference what other things are being used i.e. radio, lights its just completely random,no2 when you have interior lights on in the evening the 3 dials for the heater controls only work now and again, they dont come on and go off they just refuse to work, other times they are fine and sometimes they only illuminate when i switch heater on again its random and doesnt relate to the interior lights regarding times it happens, also central locking seems to have a mind of its own and works when it feels like,Thanks for advice anyway and I dont blame you if you dont try to figure this out :notme: but as always im grateful for the help that ive had  of everyone .Cheers

Sounds like you have a door lock assembly on the way there as one of your faults (the micro-switches are built into the lock assy). The heater panel could just be a loose connector plug to the panel board. The central locking fault could be water in the door control unit, there are several threads on this in this section if you do a search, but here is a start for you - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/336309-how-to-check-and-protect-your-door-multiplugs/

As above.
