Octavia VRS Mk 3 Specaers Question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Picking up a 2014 Octavia vrs next week and just think the stance needs to be adjusted a bit so in the market for some spacers.

It has the 19'' Xtreme alloys and thinking of getting 20mm for the back and 15mm for the front.

Would these spacers be too big and would you know the best place to get them that delivers to Ireland?

Thanks for the help,

Alan.

I

I could be wrong but ive always understood its 20mm at the back and 10mm at the front

I think your spacer idea is one of genius!

Why not fit a additional component to your car that the manufactures have not deemed necessary, your automotive skills clearly exceed that of the design & development imparted to car than by that of Skoda.

Lets just forget about the obviously unimportant warranty implications in the result of failure or faults resulting from wheel arch clearance/conflict and the increased load on the bearings & bushes. But instead on the effect on the XDS+ system and wheel camber - which will only get worse not better. Imagine your car becoming a sack of tatties, but at least it'll look cooler.

  :D ..........  :p

It's all about the Stance no standard look...........or something like that.

Please refrain from personal insults.

Not all answers to a question will what you wish to hear, but there is no need for personal insults... this goes both ways.

That's fine Gizmo, I just don't need the smart ass answers. If alis is the typical forum member, I won't be spending much time on here.

The vast majority of members on here are helpful and friendly, please do not let the odd isolated incident spoil your time on the best forum there is.

That's a bit unnecessary. He only asked a perfectly sensible question. The standard set up on the vrs does look as though it could do with lowering a tad and the wheels sitting slightly wider. Many of the people on this forum have added spacers etc.

Thanks Brooksuk

Apoligise, it was meant tongue in cheek. I'm certainly not the typical forum member, the rest seem like a great bunch of guys.

I should have known better, it's hard to convey context of a statement on a forum when tone and manner is not portrayed.

I would just like to highlight the implications of such a modification, especially to a new car.

Ok thanks alis, no problem

I'm not certain but haven't the 19" extremes got a different offset to the 18"?

I have the 18" Gemini's and I have 15mm rear and 10mm front.

If you do buy the spacers don't forget to get hubcentric ones which centralize the wheels, and of course the longer bolts which are radiused not tapered.

The stud pattern is 5x112 and with a centre bore hole of 57.1.

Hope that helps.

A.

Great thanks butch, I'll go for that so

I've just ordered a set - 20 mm/ axle + bolts M14 X 1,5 X 37mm from H&R.
I will fit them on the rear and see how it looks and behaves; depending of this I will purchase another set - 30 or 40 mm/ axle.
I never used spacers until now on my cars but this Octavia 3 really needs them as the offset of the rims is to high for a decent look.
I am sure that 20/30 mm per axle will not affect too much the suspension, bearings, etc. After all you can also buy new set of rims with ET35 for example, but I just wanted to keep the original line of the car.

Don't forget to tell your insurance company, Spacers should also be aircraft grade aluminium.

Thanks for all the info guys

  • 2 weeks later...

I had 12mm each side on the front and 20mm each side on the back. Hubcentric h&r and Lowered with h&r. With the pictoris wheels, It looked great but I think it handled less sharp than without spacers. Turn in seemed slower.. So I now have the 12mm on each side at the back and none on the front. Much sharper and stance looks just about right. Obviously still lowered. ;-) might try the 20 12 set up again in the summer when I put my new 19" extremes on ;-)

Ive just put a couple of pics up in the gallery. White estate !

I've just put some pics up of mine with 12mm fronts and 20mm rear looks perfect
