All modern cars are like that, electronics all over them.

 

I think the electronic carburettor on the Austin Maestro was the start of the end for easy home servicing.

 

at least the Rapid is cleanly styled, and can be bought cheap.

I've had no problems with mine so far, would recommend them.

 

Same here and I'm on my second one. I had a broken alarm which was fixed pronto by the dealer and the water in the doors but apart from that that's been it. Great cars IMO, there's nothing around the same price in terms of space you get in the Rapid, especially the boot. 

...and the rear legroom. Its a big car for 4 (not 5).

I wouldn't rule out a octavia mk2 either as much better car than the rapid if you don't mind the slightly dated look.

Agree. They were last of the best. I'd have one again anytime.

that may be a better option for you, not sure of the cross over between the octy mk2 /mk3
