Hi this is Sam, just saying hello to all the folk on the site.

I have a 2001 Fabia 1.9 TDI est, and am experiencing intermittent PAS fault indications, but as yet no loss of power steering.

Anyone with some suggestions?

My Fabia does that also from time to time, although it's a different model, but similarly with no loss of the power bit of the steering. I seem to recall reading ... ah yes, here it is:

I don't know if it's the likely cause of your problem, but perhaps you could monitor whether it happens after a series of short journeys, or perhaps after sitting with the radio on like wot I do sometimes

think its just a sensor playing up (possibly due to a low voltage getting to the PAS pump)... mines flashed up 3 times since iv had it always goes off when i restart.... and never yet lost any power steering. Wouldnt worry about it!
