35psi boost on standard turbo!

Recommended Posts

I have a standard octavia vrs 1.8T, ive just replaced the standard diverter valve for a gfb valve and fitted an induction kit to replace the standard airbox (i know everyone reccomends using a panel filter but im choosing not to)

Anyway, tested it on the drive home using the torque app to read the boost pressure and it is showing 35psi peak boost with a constant 25psi boost up to redline.

I think this is too much, but cant see how the boost would have increased with the mods I have done. Has anyone had any experience with the torque app and can suggest where i'm going wrong...?

I Think the boost has to be calibrated using known values so take what you are seeing with a pinch of salt unless you have already calibrated the offset.

I thought as much, thanks.

Do you know how to calibrate on the torque app? I thought it reads direct from the map sensor...

I can't remember how to do it sorry, I know it needs doing though for accurate readings.

Have you purchased the pro version of the app I think there is a readme section.

If it reads from the MAP sensor, the value includes atmospheric pressure of 14-15 psi. So if you are seeing 25 psi up to the redline, you are boosting at about 10 psi.

What Mankee said. Torque reads absolute pressure, which takes into account atmospheric pressure so will always appear 10-15 PSI above the boost value, depending on weather and altitude.

You can set torque to knock out the 14.7 psi atmos pressure it's pretty much bang on in my experience. Which trust me is vast when it comes to farting about with torque.

It's in one of the settings there's a slider iirc.
