Sat nav module

Featured Replies

Hi

Is it possible to add in a sat nav module without changing to a Columbus system?

I have the SE spec so i guess i have the Bolero? I'm wondering whether any of the spare button slots next to the gear stick could be used for a sat nav?

You could have a Columbus, or and Amundsen / Amundsen Plus. Not sure there's any other way of adding sav nav unless you go with a TomTom or Garmin etc.

If the car doesn't come with a sat nav it's easier to get a stand alone version (Or use your phone if your data plan and phone reception allow it). The Columbus particularly is insanely expensive to buy aftermarket given its performance and a lot of the units on sale are stolen. Any modern smartphone will run rings around it in terms of performance and usability.

Adding a satnav button is the least of the work needed to get satnav integrated in the car though, you'll need hardware that will support showing the map and calculating a route and a GPS antenna. If the Columbus in my car did pack up I'd go looking at an Android head unit something like this search turns up: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/android-double-din

It is telling me that the page does not exist.

Same here now - just go to ebay and put 'double DIN android head unit' in the search. Add VW or Skoda to the search to get options more likely to fit very neatly...
