Ouch! - Guy Martin's crash @ Dundrod

Featured Replies

He will be having a brew now keeping the nurses amused I should think.  Of course he didn't have a Flying Doctor to attend him more the pity.

That was tame for guy he looks like he got knocked unconscious because he is very limp and doesn't move at all when he comes to a standstill.

He'll be fine once hes got a big brew :D

I wasn't aware that the MCUI wasn't providing a flying doctor(s) service at the UGP?? I would have thought old Fred would have been out at least?

Possibly so Fuby but I was thinking about the sad loss recently!

Nice footwork from the marshal, lol.

Aye there has been a lot of activity at the road racing since with regards to publicity, awareness and blood raising (for want of a better phrase).

Ouch.

Can't help thinking thank god it was muddy as that will have absorbed a lot of the impacts.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just seen an update on this on Guy's Facebook page:

Briefly he broke 5 vertebrae which have been bolted together because 2 of them are unstable. They have had to rod his spine as he broke his sternum (apparently it is cracked right down the middle). He broke 5 ribs and 2 metacarpals in his right hand and his hand has also been plated.

The surgeon had to move Guy's shoulder blade muscles to get the metalwork in and then fasten them all on again.

That's all sounds bloody painful.

The good news is that he is feeling stronger by the day.

Holy ****

Having read his book, I reckon there's more metal in him than there is in the bike.
